Scruffy really likes the name Helena.

Ehhhhhhh, adding letters creates a slippery slope. You are changing the sound, and therefore the name.

which is fine, but that may be the name bestowed upon them by their peers of teachers. the point is, every name is subject to truncation and nicknames.

Henry often becomes hank. Same rule.

Not a fan of Helen. It needs the "a".

Scruff should also like Helen.

Wait... are we still trying to think of 3+ syllable names? Or any name that we think can't be shortened?

If that is the case, you can't shorten Jay. You can change the spelling but you can shorten it verbally.

Hey, I'm just telling what others might call them.
One syllable is best, two can fly often. That's the only way to avoid it.
Helen will always be Helen

Nevermind. I thought someone suggested Henry, but the OP was just using that as an example.

frick it, in thread change.
A name that can't logically be shortened.
Eric
Erin
Sheila ---- don't say she
Jason --- don't say Jay
No one letter crap, something logical. That's how you name a fricking baby.
