which is fine, but that may be the name bestowed upon them by their peers of teachers. the point is, every name is subject to truncation and nicknames.

If that is the case, you can't shorten Jay. You can change the spelling but you can shorten it verbally.

Hey, I'm just telling what others might call them.

One syllable is best, two can fly often. That's the only way to avoid it.

Helen will always be Helen
