Believe it or not, but some of us are actually married to women who don't castrate and humiliate their men.

You seem like a horrible person to be around, and an absolute pussy in honesty A real man goes to the party and drinks beer and doesnt give a flying frick what anyone thinks

Have you ever driven a minivan? Hold a ton of people and a ton of stuff and glides across the road like a tank on pillows. It's like driving around a wet dream. They're great and I can't wait to get one honestly.

And some men aren't too big of pussies to admit they have fun at fun things.

Havent been keeping up with the cool/trashy/etc topics on the OT.

They're made fun of by people that are incapable of having fun apparently. If you don't have fun at things like this it's a you problem (obviously not speaking to you specifically).

They are made fun of by insecure people who think it will make them sound "alpha" to a bunch of anonymous message board people Most people realize they are essentially a bar-b-que with a 1 minute announcement

Dude, a Mazda MPV I drove like 20 years ago is still one of my favorite cars.

I see.

Maybe this is an area/region specific thing?

Almost everyone of my friends has kids and they have never had these parties. Only knew about these parties because of this website.

Our gender revealing stuff has been on a group text message

They were common in Nashville, Nola, and BR for my friends/family

ETA: Spring ones are the best, as it usually means a corresponding crawfish boil

it is possible to have friends and family over for beer and food and not make the whole thing about yourselves. we do it almost every weekend and have a great time.

Is it possible for to not have both exist? Your continual botching is more "look at me" than any party.

It sounds like everyone of them is about yourself actually.

Honky Lips will go to a crawfish boil

Honky Lips refuses to go to a crawfish boil where his best friend finds out the gender of his baby in a one minute increment

Honky Lips sure sounds like a selfish self absorbed douchebag

I do plan to have one if we ever procreate.

but only if it's a boy.

and I'll do it only after he's able to run into the party, pull down his pants, and yell, "Check out this, bitches!" thus revealing his gender.

is that still legal?

it may get awkward if we end up adopting a teenager from Swaziland.

This is true. But only because the wife lays down the law. I faced the same issue when I was married. Women like to have 30 days notice for any plans. BUT....if the party is about them, then they are definitely down for a party.

At the end of the day, it's not about being beta, it's about keeping an irrational person happy.

While I don't necessarily disagree with everything, I will say that notice for parties is kind of a consideration thing I like to have as well, and I make sure I give that consideration back to anyone when I'm planning an event, because most people (at my age) have to make decisions regarding child care and such. and the facts are lots of couples are much more likely to spring for the babysitter if you title an event "Gender Reveal Party" rather than "lets get drunk".

Now of course by party I don't mean just a friday or saturday night in the back yard with a couple of friends. those are and should be random and usually sans ladies, to facilitate telling stories about the past without judgement,
