No it doesn't.
It does though.

Do you not see the difference between throwing a big, catered party versus just posting a simple 'it's a XXX!!' on facebook?
Do you not see how you're telling more people that "don't care" by posting it on facebook. At least everyone at the party wanted to know.

Are you that dense?
I could ask you the same thing.

Dont feel like reading the whole thread, but this is spot on. The least "manly" thing in the world is to care so damn much about what others do

Not appropriate?

I liked being able to tell mine in person though

No the frick they didn't. Half of those motherfrickers didn't have a choice on whether they would attend or not.

That's cool if that's what you want.
However I dont live next door to my parents so they'd had to wait couple days, so we figured a phone call would suffice.

I hate to burst your bubble, but nobody cares if you call them, text, write a letter or show up on their front porch with a note from the Dr.
if one of my friends ever wasted his time (and mine) and called to tell the the gender of his baby instead of just sending me a quick text or wait until the next time I saw him, I'd have to un-friend him from facebook

I generally am not at social events that I don't want to attend.

it certainly has everyone feels like they have to this or that nowadays, and that it has to look like something out of a magazine because pictures are going to end up somewhere for people to see, so it puts more pressure on the hostess it really is silly
Well said...
My take on the issue is that they are unnecessary... I can see why people don't like them and why some do..
I just didn't want to have one for our child

face it. some people make sacrifices and go to shite they don't want to be at to appease their spouse. it's a nice, respectable thing to do.
still don't want to be there.

When we are invited to events, we discuss whether or not we want to be there before responding. As full as our schedules are, we have gotten pretty good at saying, "No."
