When they started showing The Avengers on PBS, it was Emma an Steed. At some point they went back to the older episodes and I couldn't watch them. It just wasn't the same without Ms Peel. No Emma... No watch.

Yeah, I remember that. Rigg left The Avengers to do a Bond flick as well ... Her Majesty's Secret Service with George Lansby and Telly Savalas.

Honor Blackman had already done Goldfinger by that time.

But then PBS flipped back and forth between Emma Peel, Catherine Gale and I wanna say the third one, after Peel, was Tara King maybe? I kinda remember that because I thought she was named after the Gone With The Wind Plantation ... how I associated the Tara thing.

They were all three their own characters.

I gotta look that up now ... who played Tara? She was a pretty woman as well.

BRB

.........

Got it. Tara King was played by Linda Thorson. She kinda had a Rigg thing going on ... but she was goofier if I remember correctly. I think the producers were trying to hold on to the Rigg vibe ... and there was no replacing her. Rigg was perfect for the show. Peel and Steed had chemistry, sexual tension, which is still a common mechanism between two characters in modern shows today. But they really started it. Before The Avengers TV was family oriented like Ozzie and Harriet, Leave it to Beaver, My Three Sons, Gunsmoke ... (although Matt and Miss Kitty had some), or either The Honeymooners on the opposite end of the spectrum.

But this is Linda Thorson ... Tara King.
