This has been in the news yesterday, but hadn't seen anything posted about it.

I love how the media is always a month or so behind actual events when it comes to this. OPSEC at its finest.

I just got back from there. Word was the 52s were replacing the 1s way back in November.

Yeah, just took a long time to get all the approvals. I'm sure our State Department had to put in some work to not have this send the wrong message (even though Fox's headline does just that).

Maybe you can answer as few questions for me, unless they're out of bounds...

Congressional approval, foriegn gov't approval(s) or both?

Where are B-1s, and now B-52s, launching from? Turkey, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Diego Garcia?

I know that some limits have been set on ground troops. Does the same thing happen for aircraft as well?

What's the advantage of using B-52s instead of B-1s? Payload, loiter time, relative ease of maintenance?

What would the "wrong message" be? Aren't B-1s also nuclear capable?

Thanks for any input you can provide.
