Capitalism is responsible for the largest middle class in history. The richest in poverty class in history. The smallest % of people in poverty in history. The largest wealth generation in history. There is no better alternative to capitalism, nor will there ever be.

The United States is not, and has never been, purely capitalist. It is a primarily capitalist economy with elements of socialism blended into the fabric.

First time going through that. Company had a meeting today and said if you didn’t receive a calendar invitation within an hour, you weren’t part of the layoffs.

Jesus christ. I bet anyone that had a flask on them went hide and empty it out in that hour. That's pretty brutal waiting for the sword of damacles to possibly drop for an hour.

One thing I’ve learned is no matter how valuable, how well you’re doing, how we are a “work family”…. You’re just a number and they’ll happily chop your head off without blinking an eye.

Post of the day.

I have seen this happen too many times. I hear folks who 'think' they are indispensable only to be given the boot.

Just know this, somewhere in an office somewhere, there is some bean-counter looking for a way to replace or eliminate your position.

Employer loyalty to their employee's exist in many places but the larger the business/organization, the less 'loyalty' becomes.

With AI(Artificial Intelligence) advancing all the time, many jobs are now more in jeopardy than ever before.

I tell young folks this all the time, ALWAYS, and I mean ALWAYS, keep your options open.

BTW, good luck to all those who lost their jobs.

Dude its fricking nuts right now. I love being home but cleaning up paperwork messes (surveys mostly) is frustrating. You got 1 rig to watch. Our department (not survey quality) catches 90% of the frick ups

And I’m paying six dollars for a carton of eggs. But ignore the evidence of your lying eyes. Everything is going GREAT. They Promise.

Honesty I could use a little field work again. Get me away from this fricking prison I call a house.

ETA: for OP, went through 2 rounds in 15 and 16 with 2 operators. Sucked to be a young grad in O&G at that time, but it happens.

Nothing like logging on and seeing they’ve accepted a half dozen surveys where the magnetics are completely out of whack
