I wonder if you asked the Japanese if they could go back and exchange their "lost decade" for an influx of indians or hispanics but better economy. I'd guess they would take the lost decade over losing chunks of their culture.

Australia has always had immigrants, they have just had to go through a serious test to prove they have real merit. The romantic fools would like to change that.

We wouldn't need to if we didn't have cradle to grave welfare. Imagine how few immigrants we would need if we didn't pay our own people to sit at home generation after generation.

Not quite true, unless you count the slavery part....
Even today, there are many, many countries not importing cheap labor
