Looking for a place to stay for an upcoming bachelorette weekend in Austin. Are there houses and condos near 6th street? Also, what are some good bars for this type of group?

I'm helping plan a bachelor party thre in a few weeks. Interested in this as well.

I was looking at hotels but didn't even think about a private residence.

airbnb.

I'd recommend a house on the lake and just uber/cab it to downtown/6th st.

I'm looking at VRBO but I'm confused on what part of 6th street is the area we want to be in. Maybe downtown? But then some descriptions if you click on downtown say next to convention center or Warehouse district...I can't tell what I need to be looking for

Not that you would want IMO.

6th street is OK..... how old is your group?

Anywhere downtown is fine (hilton, 4 seasons, omni, etc.) There are pedi cabs everywhere.

Most "wild" bachelorette parties happen on "dirty sixth" between congress and I35.

edit: oh, you're looking for VRBO? Not sure I can help you on that

The part of 6th St that is famous is between I35 and Congress. 6th st has some lofts above the bars. I've stayed in one before and it worked out well.

Honestly, there are much better places to go, such as 6th st east of I35, Rainey St, South Congress, Red River (between 6th and 11th), etc.

Also, I would not recommend staying on lake Travis. It is a good 30 min commute to downtown. It is worth seeing though. If you can find a place on lake austin, that would be much closer.

You could also try somewhere along the train route. You could get a house and just take the train to downtown. It drops you off a couple blocks from 6th.

Both of these are downtown and within walking distance or a short pedi cab ride from where you will want to go

my thought on condo vs hotel is that some of these girls aren't going to know each other, so it would be less awkward to have a house with everyone sleeping together vs sharing a hotel room with someone you don't know.

Rainey street is the cool place now. Basically an old residential area they turned into a street of bars and foodtrucks. Overpriced and hipster-cool but that's just Austin nowadays.

Avoid 6th street.. it's just gotten worse and worse.
