Audubon Bridge

I may have missed the reasoning for this, but why was the Audubon bridge built in an area where few people live? We can’t get a damn bridge built closer to town to help with traffic but had 600MM to build a bridge to nowhere? Please tell me the money was set aside 20 years ago and it was dedicated and couldn’t lawfully be used for anything else and that our govt officials aren’t that stupid. That bridge would look nice connecting Plaquemine and south of the UCLub.

There's usually 4 or 5 cars on it. What a waste of money that was. It had to have been a political favor or something.

There’s another one just like it connecting Greenville, MS to cornfields in Arkansas. Beautiful bridge in the middle of nowhere.

To have a bridge that split the 90+ mile distance between the 190 bridge in BR and next bridge to the north in Natchez.

What about the Miss bridge in Gramercy/Lutcher?? For 20+ years, that bridge crossed the river and the highway literally did a 180 back to River Road. It was truly a bridge to nonwhere. It now connects to a highway but nothing major and although I hadn’t been out that way in years, I can’t imagine it is anywhere close to justifying its cost.

woops!
Audubon was built with money from 1989s TIMED program. It was planned and funded for economic development, not traffic congestion relief.

This. If OP wants to complain about wasteful spending for a MS River Bridge, the Gramercy bridge is where I'd start. There's nothing on the west bank side of that bridge. And there was already the I-310 bridge and Sunshine bridge (which also has hardly anything on the west bank side).

That bridge was built before property was secured to make off ramps. It gets way more use than the Audubon Bridge too.

im sure some way over paid engineer half way across the country looked at a road map and decided the spot was half way between other bridges so put it there, never mind if its works for traffic flow.
