Timeshare? I like the 90s too.
2016 (haven't checked 2017) was a record year for timeshare. The revenue (or some similar metric) was on par with national pizza sales.
Eta: i love it when someone just downvotes a stats based post with no input.

The U.S. vacation Ownership (timeshare) market witnessed an upsurge at a significant CAGR during the span of 5 years, i.e., 2011-2016 and projections are made that the market would rise in the next five years i.e. 2017-2021 tremendously.
Timeshare is booming in Europe and elsewhere globally also.

I did one in Orlando last year. Told 5 people no, got my free Disney tickets and resort voucher and walked out of there.

Hilton is emailing me to hear their pitch for a 4 night stay in Vegas. Kicking the idea around because it's Hilton and not Guido in a back room. How bad could they be? I have no interest in a timeshare though. No level of BS could sway me either.

Guy I went to high school with is friends with a cop they call Angel Miguel D’heffelez. That son of a bitch has played every course in the Bahamas running this racket with timeshares.

I just googled Angel Miguel D'heffelez and evidently it's the name of some angel.

The timeshare thing was hot in the 90s maybe even 80s. Anyone who has them are complete idiots. Literally throwing money out of an open window.

Yeah, I agree with this, but as someone posted, the industry made it's most profits in 2016. It's not dead at all.

Back in the nineties went to two different ones in Orlando area with no intentions of buying into any timeshare. Both offered free hotel stay. One was in Orlando the other in Daytona.
Did the theme parks and Kennedy Space Center. Space Center was awesome!

We were trying to kill time in Vegas, so we went to a timeshare presentation. They offered a couple hundred dollars to gamble, dinner, and a comedy show.
Turns out the dinner was like a $4.99 Buffet. For the gambling “money” they sent us to a slot area that took tokens and spit out coupons like you’d get at an arcade playing skee ball ...and the catch was you had to win at least $400 before you could cash out. We screwed around at the slots for about 30 minutes, and then just threw away the tickets. As to the comedy show, I was too inebriated to remember if it was entertaining.

I just want to know how they convince stupid people to buy these things, and how can I do the same

Gf and I just went too the Disney vacation club/timeshare presentation. It lasted about 30 mins we didn't pull the trigger this time but maybe soon. For our time we got a 50.00 visa card which we bought lunch and also 4 fast fast passes to whatever rides we wanted. No pressure and free transportation around the parks after that.

I’ve been to one. Got suckered into a timeshare in Malibu. :headbang:
I kept telling em no but they got me by the end of the hour.

The wife and I did one in Panama City at the Hilton Resort about 10 years ago. We got 2 nights lodging and 2 rounds of golf for $100.
I even got them to throw in a nice dinner since was our anniversary.
Didn’t buy but had a great time.

There are a lot of other ways to kill time in Vegas than to go to a timeshare presentation... But I bet the comedy show was horrible. The first time I ever went to vegas, we bought tickets to go see some hypnotist. It wasn't a big name guy, but thought it would be some quality entertainment.. When we were waiting to go in, there was a group of people behind us talking about how they got their tickets by going to a presentation. The show was horrible. We sat in the back. The hynotist called people on stage.. Most than half of the people he called on stage, when they went back to their seats, they all sat down, then when the lights dimmed a little bit more, they quickly got up and left. Later on I saw him talking to one of the girls he had on stage and she was dressed as if she was going to be like a magician's assistant. Anyway, when I heard those people say they got their tickets for free, my expectations of the show went down.

My wife and I did one in Vegas for a free steak dinner and a really nice place....
After the BS presentation, the finance guy offered me a 21% APR loan...
I ask if it was through Guido the killer bank... Then he offered 14%, said no thanks, go on the little shuttle bus, and enjoyed a nice dinner with the wife... Took about 2 hours out of our lives...
