Not to mention there's almost no crime/culcha and a lot to do outdoors.

Yes...and no humidity

Buckhead is about 10x nicer than any place in Alabama.

Maybe a decent place to raise a family in the burbs. Im not married and don’t have kids
Then you shouldn't have been living in SS. Me and a buddy rented a place in VA highlands right after Auburn and had a damn blast. It was like college again except we had some money and our jobs made us come home at a decent hour

I find the restaurant and shops on Peachtree Street to be very charming. The homes there are nice as well.

There are MARTA stations in both Sandy Springs and Dunwoody
While I love Atlanta and disagree with everything that the idiot OP is using to bitch about Atlanta, I should point out that:
1) Sandy Springs covers a lot of ground. It basically goes from Chastain Park up north with the Chattahoochee serving as its northern border. It goes almost as far west at Sun Trust Park. The Sandy Springs Station is basically on the eastern border of SS.
2) Dunwoody is basically the area directly east of SS north of 285 and stretches over to 141. The Dunwoody MARTA station is on the western border of Dunwoody and really close to the SS station.
all that to say, neither station is necessarily close to you just because you live in either SS or Dunwoody.

I live in Baton Rouge. It absolutely plagues my daily life.
I know plenty of fine black people but I'd love to get as far away from ghetto people as possible.

Might be the problem.
Grew up in Marrietta, both parents worked in the city. I loved it there.
Never had any issues catching Marta to go to concerts or ballgames.

The historic norcross area is very nice. Zapatas, Iron Horse, Paizano's, The Market are all very good restaurants.
I live in Peachtree Corners behind the Forum and that area is exploding.

The revitalized stretches of Acworth, Woodstock, Norcross etc. are great additions to those areas but they're still pretty small to carry the entirety of those fairly large suburban areas. I don't fault people for finding charm in the suburbs (or preferring suburbs overall), but I certainly don't think the charm in urban areas is typically found in suburbs if that means that the cities lack charm.

Knowing what I know now, I woulda just sucked it up and made the long trek through traffic every day to get to and from work. I think my main problem was working in Dunwoody

I imagine a lot of black folks hate culcha as well

I live in BR as well. I gotta say that this board (at times) makes living in cities out to be this mass crisis. I know that everyone's experiences aren't built exactly the same.

Culcha capital of the world
Not according to the nice lesbian couple in Druid Hills that I spoke to a while back. According to the more dominant lady in the relationship, Atlanta was too “White Bread” and there wasn’t enough “culture “ so they would be moving back to New Orleans soon.
**On a side note she also brought up the fact that they were lesbians no less than three times in a very short conversation.(Im guessing that she thought the chain wallet, flat top and motorcycle boots did not Key me in on that fact).

I don't think the word "charm" means any one particular thing. An urban area can have "charm", and a suburban area can have "charm" but both in completely different ways.
It's always a silly argument though that crops up between OTP and ITP. If you have a family, but don't want to send your kids to private school, then the suburbs are (GENERALLY) the places to be. If that doesn't apply, and you can either live in an apartment/condo or small expensive house (again, generally speaking), then ITP is great as well.

That's a tough 15 miles or so from VA highlands, especially if you're grinding out 8-5 hours. I was only a little over 3 miles and could weave in and out roads to get to work fairly easily.

Unmarried...ITP is the only way to go.

We're committed to ITPing for now, but I was raised in the burbs and have no animosity toward electing to live there. It's not what I want right now, but for many (perhaps us eventually) it's difficult to avoid and/or preferable.
I'm mostly responding to the idea that the cities are not where you find the charm in given areas. Could vary with your definition of "charm" as you indicate, but I just think that's a pretty bold assertion.
