Schools were banned from punishing students for not reciting the pledge. The states were not banned from "requiring" the pledge be recited in schools.
I guess the way you were wording it is just weird. It sounded like you were saying that Georgia requires students to recite the pledge, which would not be legal. It is actually required that students be given the opportunity to recite it, but students don't have to participate. If that is what you meant, then I apologize for misinterpreting your posts.

When's the last time you said the pledge?
Nearly every level of government opens its meetings with the pledge as do many other organizations. I’ve said it many times outside of school.
I’m indifferent to kids having to say it in school. Just pointing out that it’s recited many places other than schools.

Damn saying the pledge in elementary is now "indoctrination." What a time to be alive.

How are they ditching the USA?
Um...By refusing to pledge allegiance to the United States of America?

Good. Quit paying blind allegiance to a government that treats us like crap. Doesn’t matter which political party is in power.

If being a patriot makes me a triggered snowflake, then sure.

Of course it's indoctrination. Now, indoctrination, on it's face, isn't necessarily a negative thing, and can be useful and positive. But no sense in shying away from what it really is.

So how do you feel about their plans:
quote:Talk about indoctrination! No fidelity to their nation but rather some gibberish indoctrinating them AGAINST their nation by supporting the "global society", a part of which seeks to totally eliminate the USA.
Also, teachers will work with students to create a school pledge that will focus on civic responsibility to the students’ “school family, community, country and our global society.”

A public gathering.

Picking up garbage on the side of the road with the other county inmates is not a public gathering.

School officials say students will continue to be asked to stand to participate in the school’s Wolf Pack Chant each morning.
Why? Whats so great about the schools chant? What if a student doesn't want to or take a "knee?"

Sure, so is reciting the multiplication tables. These things used to be pretty non-controversial in school.
