Athletic Shorts - Lined or Unlined?

I have noticed that most athletic wear companies are offering their shorts lined or unlined. I picked up a pair of each from Lululemon, and I’m probably going to cut out the liner- it’s not nearly as comfortable as Saxx boxer briefs.
Is the liner the same fit as their boxer briefs? If so, I’m out on Lulu.

My vuori ones are. Maybe not as snug as underarmour boxer briefs. I have half of each. Nice to have flexibility.

Unlined are more comfy. I love my Lulu unlined. Only buy lined if you want to wear them without underwear.

I buy based on the style and look. If they're lined, I just cut out the liner. I wear 3" inseam boxer briefs as the built in shorts liner is uncomfortable to me vs wearing boxer briefs.

My Saxx Swimsuit is just like wearing their boxer briefs. I haven’t found a better fit than those, so I guess I’ll stick to unlined for now. I highly prefer the ballpark pouch over any others.
