“It’s going to take significantly more time than the 19 days that have passed to solve this crime.”- local sheriff.

The day before her death, she sent her daughter over $2k in venmo and a text that said "they aren't going to let me go"
Then more video came out of the victim at a dollar store in the mountains buying a torch lighter, poncho, tarp, some other things later found with her in a ravine, dead, and partially burned.
There are other reports, early, but no longer mentioned in the stories, there was a domestic disturbance at her Athens home just a day or two before going missing.
Media tried to talk to the daughter who told them to frick off.
Media tried to talk to spouse/ex-spouse who said he hopes the sheriff solves the crime, but nothing else.
My opinion- this shouldn't have taken 19 days to solve, and it is still unsolved. They seem to have quite a bit of info, they can ping cell towers and find phone patterns and see who else was in the remote area at the specific times the victim was, etc.
Po dunk police in Habersham county. Get the damn GBI and FBI out there.

What is this opinion based on besides the wide net phone pinging information gathering (which I’m not sure even is or should be legal)?

You watch too much tv
A police department can’t access cell phone towers, every camera in the city, etc
They have to request all that and hope the feds want to help.

They did it in hours after Jan 6th. Are you suggesting those people were already being tracked, or that it is possible to cipher all that data out in a matter of hours?

This is true, they are getting people who just pinged around the capitol.

Smokey Mountains?
Southern Appalachians but not quite the Smokies. They start rising up in northern Hall and Forsyth counties. Habersham, White, and Union counties are pretty mountainous, and Rabun County on the border with North Carolina has some huge variations in topographical relief. The Appalachian Trail's southern most end is in north Georgia.
Habersham County is not a place you'd expect something like this to occur.

How far North? Headed to Blue Ridge, Ga tomorrow. Should I strap up?

The answer to this question is ALWAYS "yes"

Well, of COURSE you should strap up. Why wouldn't you? Georgia's a Constitutional Carry state now. Carry open or concealed. Your choice.
If you're going to Blue Ridge and have some time, give some fly fishing a try. If you're already into fly fishing, swing by Bill Oyster's shop and check out the bamboo rods he makes.
Blue Ridge is a GREAT town! Fannin County is hard to beat. Mountains, trout streams...

We are actually doing a guided trip with Hulsey Fly Fishing. Wife, nor I, have ever fly fished before.

Y'all are gonna have an absolute GREAT time! Hulsey is solid!
There is a website called NGTO.org. Used to be the premier place online to find everything you needed to know about fishing for trout in Georgia. COVID just about wiped it out, but you can still get good information from the members that post there. "Dredger" always has particularly good information to share. He retired from DNR a couple years ago and works at Unicoi Outfitters near Helen these days.
I am extremely jealous of you. I have to do house chores I've been neglecting. Post some fish photos when you get a chance!

Here’s an example of Bill’s work. His shop is amazing. Bring money. Lots of it.

Cabin we’re staying in is right on the Toccoa River. I grew up in NC trout fishing. Now live in Alabama. Im stoked to get 5 days of trout fishing in.

True works of art in his shop. He teaches bamboo rod building as well. You pay for the experience and when all is said an done, you have a quality fly rod that you have built yourself. It's an ordeal though, and takes some time. It's not just a one or two day arts and crafts seminar. It's serious. You'll even be splitting your own cane to start! (Of course, you probably already knew that.)

Seems pretty obvious that the daughter did it.
