I think it’s the ratio in which they are featured that people take issue with.
You’re talking about ~10% of the population at most...and yet we’re seeing commercial representation in 30-50% numbers.
Kind of like how the white burglar in all the home security commercials isn’t a representative of the statistical reality.
And it does seem like almost EVERY commercial now has an interracial couple...once again that being a far cry from the statistical truth.
Not saying it’s wrong , but it is a deviation from the norm.
Now...what’s the reason behind it? Who is giving these marginal groups such over representation in media...and why?

Because it's not okay. They can't produce children so they don't contribute to humanity. I don't care if someone is gay but that doesn't make it okay.
Interracial couples don't need to be in Mass media either. They eventually will make it so nobody has any genuine culture and special characteristics to their race.
Like I said, I don't mind fringe and outliers being gay or whatever but it can't be main stream.

How do we know it's two dads? It could be a father and his brother--the Uncle. Or it could be two straight men who are going out to watch the game and one of them has a kid that needs to be watched.

Unless ATT’s research says main audience of the game was going to be gay and/or SJWs it just doesn’t seem like it makes business sense to run ads (that can’t be cheap) that don’t target biggest share of audience. These ads during a college football game seem likely to create same amount of negative views toward ATT as positive with the actual viewers, so unless ATT is just pushing an agenda the only other thing I can gather is that they are hoping for some of that they are so brave to risk customers by using a gay couple free publicity. Be it an agenda or trying to just use cause for free publicity it does seem more and more that commercials aren’t trying to target the demographics that are actually watching the show.
If this strategy directly helps create more profit than it loses over running with a couple more similar to the majority of the game’s audience than so be it, but that’s a big if here and commercial seems better for shows like Will and Grace, Riverdale, and soccer not the college football playoffs.
