I don't like it, but I use a ton of data so I can't imagine not having an unlimited plan. It is what it is I guess.

Anybody use something like Cricket? I'm on ATT now, maybe it's time to look around. I hear that Cricket is on ATT towers, so essentially the same service.

Yeah, I'm a grandfathered in customer. I had been thinking of switching to DirectTV too, to get my wife on an unlimited plan, but I may have to do some more research.
I live out in the country, and their service used to be the best here, but now it's spotty. I'm guessing they changed towers around where I live and now I'm farther away. I even called, they created a ticket, then I never heard back from them.

With Verizon if I go over my data limit they charge 15$ a GB. 5$ more for unlimited seems like pennies

I don't even know what a line is. So my bill is going up $5 monthly?

It's a $5 per month increase per telephone# on grandfathered unlimited data plans.

Ah...phone line. I'm like wtf is a line? So my bill went up $10 for me and my wife. I don't pay that bill and have absolutely no clue what that cost is. I do know we both have unlimited as we have had ATT forever but kids have a limit.

They went up about a year ago

OP bill went up 5 dollars. I have 4gb and if I use 4.1gb I pay 15 dollars more.
If OP has unlimited data (>4gb) for X amount now he will pays X+5.
Pretty simple concept

Slightly off topic, but AT&T was supposed to issue a credit for the clusterfrick during the flood. I don't recall seeing any credit on my bill yet. Has anyone received one?
Posted on 1/16/17 at 3:48 pm to SCndaBR
Verizon has pretty much the exact same pricing structure as AT&T

Will likely be yearly until they can make the grandfathered in customers give it up

^ this dude is correct. Also look into Verizon's data issues that will bite them in the arse soon. However I do have Verizon. Like the service but hate the data.

I have ATT and think about switching Almost daily. Service is terrible in Atlanta. Anyone have Verison or Sprint? Pros cons?
Why not try out TMob? They give you a phone for a week for free (at least they used to) and you can see. You should have no problem in a place like ATL. Unlimited plans, free international texting, etc.

even if they went up $20 am month, i would still keep AT&T for the unlimited data.
I use ~50-80GB/month so yeah, it's worth it to pay $5 a month more than paying $10 for every GB.

We switched to Directv recently, if you put both bills together in order to get unlimited it is a bitch to cancel directv if u ever want too.
Also we are extremely disappointed with our Directv service, it goes out if a mosqu8passes by, our dish rarely went out.
Also we have a shared internet network with my parents as we live close enough to both use it. I can't connect my directv to the network because since my parents are already on it only 1 can be connected.
So we get all of my parents dvr programs and lose ours if we connect.

I have the directv/at&t unlimited plan but the 2 services aren't bundled into 1 bill. It would've saved like $5 but I wanted to keep them seperate. It's a very good deal if you make use of the 4th line they give you for free, otherwise it's not all that great. It's just me, the wife, and 1 child, so I was able to give my mother in law the 4th free line so she could cancel her account and save some money. She's elderly and on a fixed income.
I've had Directv since the late 90's and I'll agree they do creep the bill up from time to time, but the service works great. We have the whole home genie setup and it has to be damn near hurricane weather for me to lose a signal. I really think it all boils down to if the installer knew his shite when he aligned the dish. If you get a good installer that works to get it spot on, you really don't have issues.
Back in college, I would've gone through all the hassle of "cutting the cord", so I get why some do that, but at our age, btw work and family, I just don't have the time or patience to deal with it. I just pay the bill and move on. If I have to I'll cut an expense somewhere else. When I get home from work I just want to sit on my arse and turn on the TV.

Using ST for 5 years without any issues. $55 month 10gb

I'm going to consider something like ST or Cricket. The cost is almost 1/2 my current bill, and even though I am on the unlimited data plan, 90% of the time I'm on wifi at home or work, so I don't really use that much data ultimately.
