I think it depends on the situation. Obviously it shouldn’t be done in business or professional communications. I don’t see an issue with it in texts with family and friends, though I wouldn’t send one with every text.

This world and its occupants (as OP uses an emoji).

Never sucka, these are the times we live in. Just another way to communicate and express ourselves. Text is so dry, and if you can more accurately convey your message, while keeping things light, seems like a win win. Then again, I do not have issues with my masculinity or ego.

I don't know where I fall on emojis, but one of my biggest pet peeves is grown men who say "lol" in texts or emails. It makes me cringe every single time.

Lol... like this guy.

Outlook/Gmail need to add a "reaction" function. So many times, I wish I could hit a "thumbs up" button to let someone know I received/read their email instead of replying "okay".

My Outlook has this.

I can take or leave emojis, but the millennial in me can't give up ending messages in lol.

I probably use them more than I should… my kids don’t use them at all.

I was in a hurry years ago and responded to a text from my son and and wrote lol in it. He gave me hell about it and I haven’t done it since. I’m proud of him.

At the same age that your tastes develop to the point that you no longer believe Cane’s chicken fingers are “haute cuisine.”

Text messages sometimes get misinterpreted. Emojis can provide more clarity for the reader.

Can also be the other way around. I purposefully don't use any emojis when texting with younger people say under 25 because I have no idea what secondary meaning the emoji might have at a particular time. I might be inadvertently asking an 18yo if they are DTF.
