THis isn't Europe.
I'd like to teach my kid that that area is private, and it's not for anyone to see.

WTF. An 8, 9, 10, or 11 year old is old enough to shower themselves.

I grew up in a one bathroom house. Probably shared the shower with my brother far longer than most would deem appropriate.

In my house it was seven. And right before a kid's seventh birthday we had a big shower with the parents party. It got a bit emotional.

As opposed to the rest of the world?

Maybe the problem is sexual predators and not a little nudity.

And if a nude child gets you aroused for some reason then there is a problem. (Not you specifically)

So honest question, fr33. You don't see anything inappropriate about a father taking a shower with his 15 year old daughter?

Public baths are a pretty common thing the world over.

The puritanical view on non-sexual nudity is truly fascinating

Showering with a 15 year old daughter in close confines is probably going to be uncomfortable for both of them and not an issue because that usually doesn't happen.

But a young kid?
Who cares. As long as you aren't waving your wiener in their face.

But if someone walks in... Just close the door. The freak outs some people have about nudity are so overblown.

Oh my god! You saw a bare arse!

This. We are a weird society. Watching ISIS behead people is ok but being nude is not?

Well, the specific question that the OP asked was about showering with your child, not someone opening the door. It's a legitimate question.

And you say it's probably going to be uncomfortable to both, but the question is what if it's not to one? When is it inappropriate? I don't think asking that question makes the OP a prude.

When it's uncomfortable to one person, it becomes inappropriate.

So if a 15 year old girl is comfortable showering with her father, and the dad is comfortable as well, it's appropriate?

I'm pretty sure that every respected psychologist disagrees, but I guess they're just a bunch of prudes, like the rest of the OT. Except for you.

If they can stand on two feet, you shouldn't be showering with them. Let them take a bath solo. JMO
