Does anyone allow or not allow their kids to watch shows like... Let's say Law & Order, SWAT, Elementary, etc

I had a conversation earlier and someone was telling me that a person I know, who has a teenage daughter, a son that is in his preteens and a younger daughter who is... 10 or 11.

They only let their kids watch the Disney channel. Even the teenager. And that they don't want them watching shows like Law & Order because of the rape stuff, etc.

I don’t have kids yet, but we watched The Sopranos as a family starting when I was like 10 ish

ETA: to be fair though we were a big Italian family so language and shite on the show was no different than language at home like since we were born

I always watched friends, Seinfeld and ER with the rents.

Mom wouldn't let us watch Simpsons though, thought it was trash.

A child would be safer on the front lines of the military than being an actor for Nick/Disney

Who knows what their kids watch on TV? There's like 600 channels. I just give them the remote and let the 4 year old control it while I get hammered in the back yard and shite post on TD.

Disney will have your kid transgendered with prescription glasses, poorly grown facial hair, and bird tattoos. They’ll be drinking microbrews and trying to join PETA within about 15 minutes of a Disney show.

My kids genuinely don't understand what a commercial is. They lose their mind when a show at my parents' house goes to commercial. They think it's never coming back. By the time it comes back they're over the show.

The 15 seconds it takes for Spirit to start a new episode on Netflix is nearly too much for them. They come running and tell us that the show is off. We tell them to go back in their room and see if it's on. They think we're magical.

This right here. For whatever reason, this show was more off-limits than most growing up.

They do, but they're little assholes about it. Try putting them in front of a TV that doesn't have OnDemand or doesn't have the ability to skip commercials.

Mine get more pissed at that then when I buy choice steaks instead of prime.

Yes.

Seriously, if you would like, I can actually bore you with the details that would legitimize the fact I am not making this up, but then people will bitch because it's too long.

They’re probably looking at porn on the computer anyway.

Yeah, that's how my nephews are, but they watch shite on youtube.. I think its youtube kids. If they are given an ipad or phone with one of those shows on, those bastards go in a trance.

A few times I watched some of the shows they watch and it is the most basic bullshite ever. There was some show where some animal thing just went around making noises and they were killing themselves laughing..

What’s the point? “Grab ‘em by the pussy” is now part of the national lexicon thanks to the bully pulpit.

Or as the OT says it, "grab em by the TigerJeff."

I grew out of cartoons when I was practically still a toddler. I used to watch discovery health, animal planet, the history channel, etc. from the time I was in first grade and was allowed to watch whatever I wanted.

Sure if your child is pea brained and can’t infer anything to responsibly watch what they want block the shite

There’s a reason the oldest children in families tend to excel acedmically, because they receive more adult influence. They grow up faster because of it
