At Dollywood

Back in my 20s I rode everything at Carowinds in Charlotte numerous times. Big, huge, fast scary coasters and enjoyed them, never really bothered me. They were awesome. Bigger coasters than here at Dollywood.
51 now. Haven't been to Dollywood since I was 14 and I think the scariest coaster then was Blazing Fury.
Well, rode Lightning Rod. I think that's the name. The wooden coaster near the entrance right out of the gate.
Scared the living beJesus outa me... Found out quickly I no longer enjoy roller coasters. I'm very afraid of heights, but that used to not bother me on coasters when I was younger. Freaks me out BAD now. It was the negative gs that really got me. Ride felt like it really tries to rip you off the seat. Eeeesshh. It pisses me off too when I see little 14 year old girls riding that damn Eagle coaster, and I couldn't muster the courage to do it.. embarrassing
Anyone else lose their desire for coasters as they aged?? I guess I did.
At the hotel in Gatlinburg now watching Duke Houston now. Halftime. We had Luigi's pizza. Very cheesy. Not too bad.
That is all.

I’m 40. Rode every coaster at Dollywood 2 years ago and loved them all. You’re on your own bubba. I think it’s the one you talked about, but the super fast upslope wooden one was my favorite. That thing hauls arse.
And I was one in my teens/20’s who didn’t care for roller coasters.

Glad you got some excitement from a roller coaster bc this Houston Duke game is a first rate snoozer.

that damn Eagle coaster
Rode that on the front right seat a few years ago and it was terrifying. The wooden coaster wasn’t bad but I will never go on the eagle one again.

I don't care about the height or speed of a coaster. I love them. What I hate are the old coasters that are so jerky that they hurt. The one at the Six Flags in Atlanta sucks arse because it brakes so fast that it damn near gives you whiplash along with a concussion from slamming your head into the back of the seat.
Give me any smooth coaster any day. I love them.

Wild Eagle at Dollywood is my favorite coaster. So awesome.
Also love the Tennessee Tornado and Thunderhead.

Dollywood has some legit rollercoasters. I was shocked when I went. I thought it was going to be kind of lame. Uh… that park goes waaaaaay harder than I thought!

Same here…Used to love the thrill and gut-check aspect of all those rides, but now I just hope I don’t have a heart attack.
I usually will still give everything a shot at least once, because my sons are at an age where they love it. If it’s something with really short lines, I’ll ride it once and then sit out with the wife while the kids do multiple turns on their own. I think they rode the barnstormer thing like 8 times in a row.
Funny thing is, I start to wonder about some type of catastrophic accident. I’ve had my share of close calls, and can’t help but wonder when the odds are going to catch up.
Best part is seeing the excitement of my kids though…Reminds me of how I was and makes it worth it.

I’ve lost my desire to ride them, but I have a teenager who loves them so I suck it up and ride with her. The eagle one wasn’t as bad as I expected wooden coasters just suck. They’re too rough and make me feel like I’m going to hurt my neck.

Lightning Rod is regarded as one of the top coasters in the country.

Wooden roller coasters seem to jerk. No fun.

Love Dollywood and silver dollar city. Don't have to worry about thugs shooting up the place (six flags Atlanta). I would say SDC is the better cause of the kettle korn

The new one Big Bear Mountain is fantastic.
We went last November and that place is first rate, loved everything about it.
