well its a bubble for sure, no matter what anyone says

the question is how much money is there to be made on the way up?

i sold out of BTC too early but my other alts are doing well (LTC, ETH, IOTA) so no regrets bro

if you made money its a win in my eyes

Ya, BTC is going crazy today. My LTC and ETH are much more stable.

About to buy a couple hundred worth of IOTA using some of my ETH profits.

ETA: Oh, and please tell me all you folks are using MFA on your exchange or coinbase accounts?

So when will people actually use BTC as a currency and not as a way to make money, what will it’s value be?

Right now, all I see are people staring at charts unloading and repurchasing over and over?

When does stability and use as a currency come into play?

Been acting like this for years. Just think of all those poor souls who purchased bread with their BTC a year ago.

3 Trillion.
BTC alone will hit $40,000 next year.

When it becomes the defacto worldwide currency not controlled by any central fiat based bank.

i wish i knew

bubble or not, healthy markets eventually go bear.

with that said i'd say that blockchain has such a good chance of becoming a key element in digital finance for potentially billions of people, that im quite willing to buy some even when they're overpriced in the short term.

so imo were in bubble but the long-term prospects are still great.

And how does that happen? What is the purpose of no regulation?

Not all regulation is bad.

For a global currency, we would have to have built utopia. No more countries like NK or Iran, etc.

You should probably start with cryptography, then move on to block chains once you have a good grasp of cryptography.

Once you understand those two things, you'll have your answer.

It’s not no regulation, it’s self or internal regulation because of technology

Do you check health department reports before you go eat at a new restaurant or Yelp? Health Dept. is becoming irrelevant.

Also look for the spread of the use of the Uber rating system. Currently, your poor rating may have you not getting a ride.

As that system spreads, your poor reputation will stop people from doing business with you. Or you’ll pay a lot more until your behavior improves.

good point.

ill add that there is regulation within the space. the days of scam ICOs are coming to an end. atm, if you get ripped off by an ICO, thats your own damn fault imo

it will extend far beyond just financial and transaction services. especially true for ethereum.

i like bullfrog's electricity analogy. the tech behind all of this will be a gamechanger

Bingo. Which is why I have the majority of my money in ETH. We actually have a few attorneys here where I work seriously digging in to ETH because of the ability to use it for contractual purposes.

When I see statements like this about tech I always think Sony Betamax, Netscape, CompuServe.

Best marketplace to purchase? I know coinbase has the big 3 but is there a good one out there that will allow me to play with some of the smaller IOTA type currencies?

You're looking at it the wrong way.

block chain = viewing movies at home
block chain = internet

What you are talking about are services running off the technology. Your example would be more accurate if you were comparing some of the more obscure crypocurrencies against betamax, netscape, etc.

Not all cryptocurrencies will prove to be successful. But the underlying tech of block chain will be.
