Racism used to be lynching and burning crosses and other extreme acts like that...now its dressing up or saying a taboo word, who really GAF? Everyone has to be a victim somehow
Exactly. So much butt hurt in this thread.

In 2014, I would hope that racism wouldn't be called on any little action by white people.
I agree with you, BOX, I really do. If a black fraternity had a Honkey party with everyone dressed in cardigans with jars of mayonnaise, there'd be laughter all around. A clear inequity exists.
Heres my issue: were these TKE's trying to make a social statement about this inequity? Were they trying to call out the hypocrisy of it?
I seriously doubt that. Perhaps they were, and perhaps something will come out about that.
And right or wrong, that type of party is not going to be received well. So you'd better be ready to defend it.

Or maybe they were just having a themed party. Why does it have to have some deeper meaning?

Too many people just looking for an excuse to get their feelings hurt.

This is so rediculous, how could people be mad about it?
It's a satire based on black people. It's obviously over exaggerating stereotypes of black people. It's a joke.
We used to have mlk parties and they were a blast.
People need to get over themselves and laugh. This victim society is getting old.
Eta: we also had white people funny parties like "down on the farm" dressing in overalls and fam teeth. Among others.

You would never hear a peep about it in condemning it, or demand from the university to apologize, or be suspended. That's a fact.

we used to do MLK parties, 40oz and kegs while rocking Basketball jerseys

Some people just need something to be outraged about, those of our generation are pissed that they don't have anything to "fight for" like their grandparents did, so they have to make a mountain of a molehill about every little thing they find.

They were just having a dumb themed party.
That's it. They weren't setting out to make some sort of statement.

Because this type of shite deserves to be called out in 2014?
I have a dream....
That people will be offended by everything
That race victimization will become an industry
That white people will forever walk on eggshells
I don't think MLK would have wanted any of those things.
