If true, this officer directly contributed to to the loss of an innocent life.
The so-called officer should be fired. Both he and the PD deserve to be bankrupted. He's not qualified to be a mall cop much less a police officer at an event with the president. Both Majorkas and Cheatle should have tendered their resignations before Trump left the hospital. Biden also has blood on his hands for gaslighting the country and then refusing to provide the additional security Trump's team requested.

It's a Christensen 6.5 Creedmoor with a Zeiss 6.5-20x56 scope. It's a consistant 1/2 minute rifle off the shelf with boat tail ammo.

I agree, the officer inadvertently saved Trumps life.
How can you be sworn to protect and serve and not draw down on the assailant right there on the ladder? The PD needs to be assigned to desk duty until he realizes what is duty entails.

Somebody in the presser said perimeter security was delegated to local law enforcement. Overwatch knew those roofs were the threat. Two different teams set up to cover them.
Small town cops aren’t always trained very well
Look closely at the photo someone posted of the building and ladder. You can see the dead shooter, his gun and also a black blob that is probably a backpack or bag of some sort.
Kid walks through the perimeter with gun in bag, local cop responsible for perimeter security is distracted, finally figures out shooter is on roof, panicks when gun pointed at him (maybe for first time?). Kid is defilade to overwatch until shooting. Trump shot. Kid raises head to see if he hit. Kid shot.

Just a thought but why didn't the officer shoot his gun up in the air as he was going down the ladder? It would have drawn the snipers' attention to that roof and possibly stopped a single shot towards the stage from being taken.

They will breathlessly insist that a riot at the Capitol was an "attack on the democracy of this country, an attempt to overturn the election".
Then a former president and candidate for president is literally shot, an inch or less from being assassinated and it's all fake and staged.
These people are the biggest gaslighters in the world, they push actual racist and sexist agendas all while insisting they're fighting "hate".

Maybe the Snipers were communicating with the local cop and making sure the bad guy wasn't the cop. Maybe the SS snipers saw something on the roof and were trying to confirm it was a local cop because they assumed that building was secured. Maybe it was supposed to be secured by the local cops and no one noticed it wasn't until the civilians started yelling at cops that there was someone was up there. During all of this the snipers direct their attention to the building. This would make sense because there is video of the 2 snipers clearly observing the building that the shot came from. Why would some random person be videoing the snipers who had been on the roof for hours presumably. There must have been some movement or action by the SS snipers to get the videoers attention. Would also explain how the assassin was killed so quickly by a SS sniper. Clearly their attention and rifles were already on him or at least the general direction.
My thoughts are that SS assumed the building was secured by local law enforcement. Local law enforcement either didn't get the memo or just dropped the ball or had cleared and secured the building earlier and assumed it was still good. Probably a lot of miscommunication. SS may have told the locals to clear and secure that building meaning "clear and keep the building secure" but the locals clear and secure the building, which they did and then went about their merry way.
Some local civilian says "hey there's a guy up there with a gun." Local cops are like "huh, oh yeah it's probably our guy." SS hears it and says "Oh yeah that's local PD because we told them to secure that building." One local cop is like "WTF? Okay I'll go check it out." So he climbs up the ladder and has a rifle in his face and then really like "Oh shite WTF for real" and gets on his radio and says there's a guy on the roof with a gun. The SS looks over and is like "I mean maybe a see a guy but isn't that supposed to be one of ours? WTF is going on?" Then the shots ring out, now everyone is like WTF, SS sniper finally says enough of this and kills the guy.
