ASMR: I do not understand this phenomenon.

ASMR noun noun: ASMR a feeling of well-being combined with a tingling sensation in the scalp and down the back of the neck, as experienced by some people in response to a specific gentle stimulus, often a particular sound. "ASMR is triggered by things like whispering voices, paper tearing, and scalp massage"
There are social media channels dedicated solely to people cutting bars of soap, or squishing floral foam covered in glitter, or grown arse adults playing with slime. Are we as people so stressed that this is what relaxing has come to? Or are we just slowly killing off brain cells?
Have you ever experienced ASMR? Do you believe it’s an actual thing?

I follow all of these people on Insta
The slime is for my great niece. I made some with her.

Sorry you can't feel the head tingles. That must suck.

So people hear/see relaxing things and it calms them down?

I’ve watched Bob Ross paint things while I drift off to sleep. It calms me.

IDK about AMSR but a lot of my wife’s favorite YouTube channels will put me to sleep.
Also any Toyota RAV4 review on YouTube can have me sleeping in no time.
NPR sometimes works.

I asked my kids why all the ASMR girls are cute,or young. This shite makes me laugh. The kids laugh when I said "Why does she keep smacking so much while she's talking?" They should go to a nursing home or a 2nd grade public school at lunch time. You could hear smacking and gums slapping all day long.

It's pretty amazing. I experienced it pretty often while younger. Not as much now.

I’ve heard of this, it’s got some commonalities with fibromyalgia.
And by commonalities, I mean it’s completely made up

I’ve had it since I was 4-5 probably. I get nothing from these YouTube videos other than putting me to sleep when I’m in a hotel or somewhere I have trouble sleeping. My ASMR has to come from real life and not a video. But the feeling is amazing and it is like a head orgasm. Your entire head just tingles almost as if you’re high. Getting a haircut does it for me. Watching someone do a repetitive task can trigger it. It’s nothing sexual at all although they do have ASMR porn. If you don’t understand it you’re missing out. It’s incredible.

I've watched Bob Ross since I was a kid because of his voice and the sound of the painting being made

I love the sound of a vacuum cleaner and flying outs me out. The best real life ASMR’s is someone softly biting the back of my neck and I also like scratching.
I’m a freak :/

You are a great aunt?
As for as the thread title, I am not at all familiar with this. So there are people who make videos of them playing with this stuff?
I had a conversation the other day about the shite people do to get internet famous so this doesn't really surprise me that it is a thing.

The best ASMR videos are the unintentional ASMR videos like instruction vids of a doctor doing a HEENT exam or a dermatologist doing a skin exam, or a barber with huge hands doing a head and face shave and massage.
This shite will really make you go down the rabbit hole on YouTube to the point where you will wake up from a nap or even full blown sleep to some random video playing on your MacBook or the TV's YouTube app.
