Who gives a shite if they know how much you paid for your vehicle?

Diamond Dog, do you still have the cash, or did you use it as your in-laws suggested and put it into your house?

And if I may ask, did the in-laws run into an unexpected expense? Someone lose their job or get sick? Otherwise what was their reason for asking you to return it?

At any time, feel free to say "F off and mind your own business," and that's fine. I'm just asking for a little more info, if you feel inclined to give it.

I don't think it is tacky, if the person is in the market. You want to know what others paid in order to leverage a dealership. Granted they have so many apps now that you can use it almost seems pointless

Are you like this about everything?

If your wife told your in-laws that you went out to a specific restaurant for dinner, and they were curious enough to ask what dish you got and how did you enjoy it, is that tacky to you? After all, reasoning like this;
quote:

don’t like to tell people that kind of information because it’s just not anyone’s business
could go towards everything.

Weird. Who gives a shite?
quote:

It’s not a big deal

Apparently it’s a HUGE deal.

I should have gotten into the auto industry when I was young. People are buying vehicles they can’t afford for a 10 year note

I don’t think it’s tacky at all to ask someone what they paid for something, it’s totally normal. I actually think it’s weirder/offensive if someone gets offended by someone asking. It would be tacky IMO to make someone feel guilty/embarrassed for merely asking the price paid for something.

Now asking what someone’s income is, that’s not cool.

Especially if it’s something they may want. I build and collect firearms and people always ask the cost because they are interested in it for themselves. I just think it’s really odd to feel this way about a damn Honda SUV like you just bought a Urus or some shite

The only people that are scared to tell you how much they paid for a vehicle are people who suck arse at negotiating and scared they overpaid. You can look up how much a car is worth fairly easy, so it’s just a question of your skill at dealing with the dealers.

I always ask people what they paid for stuff (house, cars, etc.). I feel it’s a power move. Makes them uncomfortable. 90% of the time they’re going to lie. That’s how I judge character. It’s really not that big of a deal. I respect them just as much if they tell me, “none of your buisiness” as I do if they give an honest answer.

I can always tell when they get squirmy and lie. Would not hire.
