You got the thread back!

I don't know about LCA, but what about MeauxJeaux? I don't know if he is in here or not, but if you think LCA is in the klan, you would think MJ is the Grand Wizard.

Of course. I might make it my life mission to discredit Thomas Edison as the great inventory he is know for. He is the biggest fraud in the history books.

I think presenteeism by parents and education (ie getting one) are the two biggest things to stem the tide of violence. Now, making sure that shift occurs is some serious heavy lifting.

Yeah, there are no easy answers. And that's frustrating.

Keywords: "both" and "parents" That's the reason for the majority of any of what I call success in my life (hell, I spent most of my drive home just now talking to my mom on the phone about politics, and my dad emails me from his job at least 3x a week). That's why I'm taking impending fatherhood so seriously--it's so vital to establishing that foundation upon which success can more feasibly be built, IMO.

Yes, I agree 100%. As a Dad and a granddad, I think the country has gone to the shitter due to people think that it is ok to walk out a marriage just because they think the grass is greener on the other side of the fence.

no disrespect meant but I think you're way off the mark on that statement, reparations out the whazoo have been made for generations that have not only leveled the playing field but in fact have given minorities and females a leg up just about every conceivable area, minority scholarships, grants, minority owned business subsidies, set asides, tax breaks, and so forth, what continues to "hold down" minorities is that no matter what the restitution is, it is never enough, and minorities perpetuating the hatred for whites and refusing to move forward and teaching generation after generation of minority children that white people are responsible for everything negative that they may ever encounter in life and therefore the white people will forever owe them something

No disrespect taken. But ask yourself how much wealth do you think blacks could have amassed after the great depression? Also it is a known fact that the demographic that has benefitted the most from afirmmative action are white females.

Do you feel like there are good and bad places to be black in this country( city, state, region, whatever)? If so, what's a good place? Bad place?

What color are your eyes? Real question.

My money is on green. I don't know a single black guy driving an F150, with a white woman, who likely wears Chippewa boots, who has brown eyes

there are two parts to having the doors opened for you, the second being that once you've received the opportunity you've got to come through with the performance to take advantage of it, the exception being government jobs

My wife told me on our first date that, if we got married, divorce wasn't an option for her.

I was happy to tell her that feeling was mutual Best to have that buy-in from jump street (not that we're perfect or anything, of course, but it's damn nice to have some solid common ground to fall back on when things get rocky as they do for every couple).

This is a legit question, and I fully know that the "prison signal to others that one was willing to engage in gay sex" explanation is bunk, but could you please explain saggin' to me? This, more than any aspect of urban culture is mind blowing to me on many levels. You seem like someone who has never sagged, but perhaps you could offer insight into why it's a thing that anyone would want to do. TIA! Cheers for doing this! Great thread!

Ive seen slavery brought up a few times in this thread but these are honest questions:

1. Why do a large portion of black folks harp anger toward white people regarding slavery when no white person alive has ever had a slave and no living black person has ever been a slave?

2. On that same theme, do black people hold extreme anger towards the africans who sold other africans to those wanting to have slaves?

If you dont want to answer both I understand, but question 2 is one Ive really always wondered.

Btw, great idea for a thread.
