As of Sunday, about 28% of the people diagnosed with COVID-19 were hospitalized. The numbers released about hospitalization were as of Sunday and did not include the newer cases announced at noon Monday. But, the state said, the Sunday statistics showed approximately 240 people were in the hospital as of Sunday with positive diagnoses.

The numbers only show the amount of patients hospitalized and do not indicate if those who are not in the care of doctors, and presumably self-isolating at home and away from people, have fully recovered. The state was pointed in its description of how to describe a recovered patient: "A person is considered recovered when it has been at least seven days after the onset of illness, AND at least three day after resolution of fever (without the use of fever-reducing medications) AND resolution or improvement in respiratory symptoms."

OT experts, I cannot imagine hospitals can manage much more than a 28% hospitalization rate, right?

1. Only test high risk individuals with symptoms
2. Have high percent of people that required hospitalization.

3. Spread the panic like wildfire.

Since most tests are only being given to people with serious symptoms, this makes sense.

It’s really much less as they are only testing people that are really sick

That sound high compared to elsewhere. The Alabama Dept. of Public Health said today that the number there is "up to 7%."

Edit: the AL number is 7% of confirmed cases.

My Dr told me if I had symptom s she would send me home
No test unless I needed to be hospitalized which wasn’t likely due to age & health

28% is not a true #

There are also people hospitalized that haven’t tested positive, but they are also presumed to be infected.

My brother works in the ICU at Oschners New Orleans. The patients are mostly obese with diabetes. Considering Louisiana & Mississippi are loaded with fatty's, our hospitals will be overloaded.
