You need a degree to go to ocs and pilot school so, this wouldn't work out for you.

I can say with conviction that I will never harbor similar regrets.

Only if I would be guaranteed that I would be like Jason Bourne.

No, it's called "conscription".

Did my time in the Navy and have no regrets about it now.
If I could do it all over again though I would have finished my degree and gone OCS and joined the Air Force. The Navy of my era treated it's enlisted personal very poorly which is why I left.
I joined the Air Force reserve after I left the navy and I was amazed how much more professional the Air Force treated it's enlisted personal then the Navy.

Yes, but it isn't new for me. I'm also barely out of my 20s.
I considered it heavily in college, law school, and some after law school. Was always something I was interested in, but I guess I just kept taking the next non-military step until it really didn't make any sense to go for it. Progressed to seeking out federal law enforcement and foreign affairs work and came really close to going down that path.
Had a lot of Marine friends, and several close buddies are officers who are in it as a career. I suspect I'll likely regret it in some ways, but I'm pretty decent at what I do, and I think using whatever I am good at to the service of those who serve alleviates much of that.

I wouldn't be opposed to a one or two year mandatory military service or government service program. Work them hard for a year or two.
Do you think you'd get more production out of them than the money put into them? This makes no sense.

I don't think I could have made a career out of it, but I feel like I should have put in some time and served our country when I was right out of high school.
Yep, feel exactly the same
