Last year my son's cub scout pack went on a trip to a cave outside of Nashville. Before entering, every boy and parent had to crawl through a 3x3 box to qualify to enter. The group of parents got real small real fast.

Twenty years ago, Brookshire Grocery Co. had a deer lease west of Kerrville that had a cavern on it (not open to the public). There was a wooded area you would go into, and then there was a large hole and you'd climb down the rocks to the cavern entrance. The entrance was a hole you could stand in, but then you'd have to crawl (not a tight squeeze) for about 10 feet and then you'd be into more open areas. There were a lot of arrowheads in the cavern, as well as bats. Today, I'd be more worried about diseases from the bats then a collapse.

Cumberland Caverns? If so, I went on a field trip there in 5th grade to spend the night in the caves, and I remember a couple of spots being pretty tight for me back then

I'm pretty sure that was the one. A couple of spots were both tight and muddy. Ended up being myself and just two other dads that were able to make it the distance.

I seriously got nauseated while reading that.

We did the wild cave tour of Mammoth a few years ago. Most of the time you're crawling on your belly or back through extremely small spaces. Some corridors are the height of your head-you have to turn your head sideways while crawling on your back to get through.
If you're claustrophobic at all this is not for you. I have no desire to ever do that again...

Nope, frick that.
I enjoy large open caves, but if it came to crawling I'd be at the end of my cave tour.

pretty sure the folks who do this dont have that fear of small places, just like the folks who climb up to the top of radio towers dont have a fear of heights...either way you wont find me doing any of that crap

I wanted to do that one at mammoth, but it was full, so I took a "strenuous" tour that involved holding lanterns. Well they didn't have enough lanterns for the 50 people on the tour so I didn't get one, and it was only strenuous to the southern fried fatties in the group..which was about half the people

PBS does a nationally syndicated show from Cumberland Caverns. It's called Bluegrass Underground

The only caves I will ever go in are tourist attractions with paved floors. Even at that they are like circuses, seen one, seen 'em all.

This is going to be awkward for a while for the family...."What happened to your son?" "Oh, terrible accident...he suffocated in Nutty Putty"

Youtube of a family going through the nutty putty caves. Definitely watch from 4:55 on as they go through the worm hole area
What would be worse - getting stuck like the guy in the OP or getting lost deep in the cave and your light goes out?
Bonus horrible scenario - you get lost deep in an underwater cave while scuba diving.
