covering his arse?
WTF are you talking about idiot? He's not trying to get the DWI fixed. He completed the court ordered tasks to be eligible for it to be expunged and he's now going about doing that.

It's a very tedious process, but all part of the punishment. They want to make this shite hard for you, and can't really blame them.
Fees went up last summer, from what I remember.
Word. Man you know what is also a motherfricker to do now compared to 10 years ago. Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Holy hell they grill you and then the Feds get a chance to grill you as well before accepting the shite.

Shouldn't even be an option...
"daddy I got caught driving drunk"
"its ok, we'll just pay to make it disappear"

I received one over a decade ago when I as 18 and paid about $500 for it to get expunged. I'm sure penalties are a lot stricter now so $2k sounds reasonable.

It doesn't disappear.
You're an idiot.

It can be done fairly easily by filling a few forms out and paying the fees. He will have to go before the judge for him to decide, which should not be a problem if all criteria were met. It will cost close to $500 in court fees and such if he does it himself.

I appreciate all of the concern on everyone's part, but the guy paid his debt and 'legally' he can have his record expunged. I just wanted to know if he needed a lawyer or not, and if 2 grand was out of line.
By the way, it's his 2 grand. Just like it was his money for all his fines.

But the actual work an attorney has to do for an expungement is frickin null
Good luck. If you know all about it, why did you post here looking for advice?
I suggest you go to the clerk of court's website and knock yourself out.

You called an attorney. He quoted you a price. It isn't bullshite at all. It is what one particular attorney quoted for that service. Call another attorney. Jeez.

He's now living in BR, but got his DWI in Lincoln Parish, so he's calling the DA's office up here.

My son got a DWI, pled guilty and served his court ordered sentence.
The OT: He should now be shot.

2000 is theft. But, if you hired a cheap arse attorney for the dwi, now u know why he was so cheap. Many cover expungement
With their initial fees. My family sure does.

I did mine myself. The Clerk of Court told me everything I needed and gave me all the forms. I filed the paperwork myself and paid the fees and its gone.
