I found an oil painting from the turn of the 20th century. Is there anyone capable of appraising it in Shreveport?

Probably better off going to Dallas or New Orleans

Best route is probably to do it initially online before putting in much effort.

It is such an old frame that I don't want to move around too much. I tried to go all antiques roadshow on it I didn't want to mess anything up. The frame says Jackson and sons Liverpool 1904. There's also something on the back but the writing is really faded.

Like the place in NO that gave the guy from BR $1500 for his $500 million Da Vinci?
Just saying, be wary of who you put trust in here.

If it’s an Alexander Drysdale water color it could be worth a pretty penny.

Cool painting. What/who is it?

Honestly, you could call Heritage in Dallas and someone will help. They are really great at taking whatever information you have and advising how to take next steps. It would likely begin with an appraiser phone call who asks for detail and pics of every sort sent by email. They'll walk you through it. If valuable, their goal is to sell it when you're resdy. That's why they help.

call someone at norton art gallery. that is a world class art museum, they will know who to send you to.

The RW Norton Gallery is a nationally regarded art museum right there in little ole Shreveport. They can probably point you in the right direction.
