You should’ve seen the scene outside the apartment where she killed herself when the cops got there.
There were like 15-20 chicks balling their eyes out hugging one another. Really sad.

Do fraternities still do volunteer work & community outreach or is it just all partying now?

She was also on it. Xanax when taken a high doses makes you do very harmful things to yourself.
So not only do you know it was the Xanax that nearly killed him, you know her to be on a high dose of Xanax? And you just happen to be best friends with some members of this fraternity who likely helped spread the possible rumor that it was the Xanax that nearly killed him, so you definitely have no vested interest in seeing them painted in a better light here.

He definitely hazed them but the kid went to the hospital because of Xanax that the girl forced him to take after he was already blackout
Where is this story that the girl forced him to take Xanax coming from?
Was that reported by the media or is that a rumor making the rounds here on TD?
ETA: I see RadarTiger is the only one spreading this rumor.

I don't think this is correct. The greek kids are trying to join a club and would naturally feel like they need to comply with what a current member of said club wants them to do. There is no correlation for other groups of college kids outside of sports and maybe band. Your average kid on the street has no similar experience of this type.
This is the "Today Show" version of how we got here - every alcohol fueled event involving fraternities that results in an issue is deemed a hazing issue. Which inflates the public's sense of the"problem." The number of genuine "drink or you're out" or the indirect equivalent incidents is incredibly small when compared to the number of incidents that are more accurately described as "members or pledges who drink too much at an event." And those, which are nonetheless categorized as being related to hazing, are identical to the non-greek counterparts and likely do not occur at a higher rate than non-greek incidents.
It's an organized disinformation campaign that intentionally conflates a handful of egregious incidents with thousands of non-hazing incidents, and it's obviously been quite successful. Anyone who doesn't think fraternities are being targeted (I mean, look at the nature of the fraternities that are targeted vs. those who never make the news despite far worse hazing) is simply dishonest or naive.
And as to your point about the average kid - I think a large percentage of greek alums would tell you they felt no more pressure to do anything in fraternity life than they did in normal peer pressure incidents in high school/college.

Wonder how I avoided getting hazed all these years.

He said in another post he was best friends with some guys in the fraternity. Not exactly an unbiased observer.

Look I’m giving the information that was told to me by members of phi psi. That information could be bias. I told y’all where I got the information earlier so I’m not hiding anything.
I’m sharing what I know and it’s not guaranteed to be 100% true because I do only have one side of the story. I know most of you don’t know people on the inside of the situation so I’m telling y’all what they are saying.

Ah, thanks for clarifying.
Found an article from last month that gives more details on that night.
Found this part interesting:
quote:
The partying that night took place at an off-campus location, not Phi Kappa Psi's frat house. The freshman who was later hospitalized planned to sleep off his bender at the young woman's apartment, at Arlington Cottages and Townhomes. But some fraternity brothers — who may not have attended the gathering — noticed afterward that he was dangerously intoxicated, according to two sources with knowledge of the investigation.
They decided he needed medical attention, but by that time, he had already gone inside the young woman's apartment. The brothers banged on the door, to no avail. They then found an open downstairs window, climbed inside, collected their friend and brought him to the hospital, the sources said.
LINK
That bit about the dudes climbing in through the window and retrieving their friend sounds quite plausible.
