SLIDELL- Police have made an arrest in connection to the drowning death of a 4-year-old boy last month. Shortly before 6:00 p.m. on March 5, officers responded to 104 West Pinewood Drive, after the father of 4-year-old Timothy Brooks found the child unresponsive in the backyard swimming pool. Timothy was transported to a local hospital, where he later was pronounced dead. “We extend our thoughts and prayers to the friends and family affected by this incident,” Slidell Police Chief Randy Fandal said in the original release. “Whenever a young child has an untimely death, it affects everyone involved, including our officers and other first responders. It really hits home for everyone.” Fandal will be hosting a press conference at 11 a.m. to discuss the recent arrest.

That's really interesting. Have they found evidence of deliberate endangerment that lead to his death?
Or have they decided to start arresting parents for negligence such as leaving children in hot cars or letting them near pools unattended.

It is a tragedy, and I have no knowledge of this case or the details of this case.
But sometimes a accident is a accident and no one needs to go to jail.

But sometimes they aren't and in today's climate with social media everyone is judge, jury, and executioner with out knowing all of the facts.

I’ve been wondering about this case, too. It’s shocking how dumb some people can be about water safety. Some people actually have a hard time believing that there are people in the world who actually cannot swim. I wonder if this guy simply push the four-year-old into the pool assuming that he could swim, or even thinking that such an act would help the kids learn how to swim.

If I lost my child like that, I don't know how I would respond either. Might need something to ease that pain for a while.

How fricking terrible do you have to be to drown a 4 year old?

Slidell Police Chief Randy Fandal held a press conference Wednesday to announce an arrest made in the case of 4-year-old Timothy Brooks, who drowned at his home.
Timothy was found unresponsive in his swimming pool March 5 shortly before 6 p.m.
Slidell Police responded to the home in the 100 block of West Pinewood Drive after Timothy's father discovered the boy's body.
According to Slidell Police Chief Randy Fandal, Zachary Brooks, 24, was inside the home taking drugs while Timothy was left unattended in the backyard near the pool.
Fandal said investigators were "disturbed" by the condition of the home during the investigation, and executed a search warrant.
"The home was in deplorable conditions," said Fandal. "Trash and food was piled up throughout the house. There were animal feces and urine, no running water, and the swimming pool was riddled with debris."
Fandal said that the house was also full of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
"This is a tragic, senseless death that could have been prevented," Fandal said. "The drug use, the conditions of the home, and how the boy was being cared for led to this 4-year-olds death."
Fandal said that Zachary had full custody of Timothy, and that the boy's mother was in jail at the time of the incident.
Fandal said the condition of the home was the worst he had ever seen in his 38 years of law enforcement.
"This was disgusting," Fandal.
Zachary was charged with negligent homicide and second degree cruelty to a child and is currently being held on a $200,000 bond at the St. Tammany Parish Jail.

"After interviewing multiple witnesses, it was discovered that Timothy was left unattended in the backyard while his father was engaged in using illegal narcotics inside of the home, according to a release.
“There is no question in my mind that the drug use, the deplorable conditions of the house, and the way Timothy was being cared for, contributed to his death. This is nothing short of a tragic, untimely death that could have been prevented," Slidell Police Chief Randy Fandal said.
Zachary is currently being held on a $200,000 bond at the St. Tammany Parish Jail."

Negligent homicide. He's not being accused of doing it intentionally, unless an actual lawyer wants to correct me.
ETA: Yep, father was high while kid was left alone.

Did you read the article or any of the quotes from the posts above? He appears to be a fricking scumbag who through willful negligence killed his child by abusing drugs and neglecting his child. It it makes me an idiot to point out that he's a worthless druggy then so be it. I'm an idiot.
