Armed man dies after being shot by officer during hours-long standoff near Evangeline Street

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A man died after he was shot by an officer at the end of a 19-hour standoff situation near Evangeline Street.
Keith Carter died after he was sent to the hospital Tuesday morning, according to the family attorney Niles Haymer.
A spokesperson for the Baton Rouge Police Department says the standoff started at roughly 4 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 26 when a suspect entered a home in the 4200 block of Sycamore Street in an attempt to flee from officers.
The situation ended before noon on Tuesday, Aug. 27 when Carter was taken to Our Lady of the Lake for treatment.
On Tuesday, Police Chief Murphy Paul said in a press conference that the incident began while the narcotics division was out conducting patrols in the area.
During the patrol, officers identified a suspicious vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The man driving the truck took off, and there was a chase, according to Paul. The suspect went to the house, got out and went inside. Once inside, the suspect allegedly produced a gun.
Paul said the responding officers retreated and called for back-up. SWAT arrived to the scene, where the team conducted negations for 17 hours. The man went out the rear of the house and, at one point, fired a weapon at an officer, and then the officer returned fire.

Don’t believe everything you read. Didn’t even try to revive him

Crap. I was just about to invest in a large supermarket right around the corner from that house. The development was going to include a community center, beauty supply store, used tire store, scuba supply shop, payday loan store and a Buccees. Now I don’t know if the investment is as safe as the NBR Development people had assured me it would be
What to do?

MP did a wonderful job kissing the arse of this pillar of the criminal community at the presser.
Paul asked the community to pray for this father of five who had just tried to kill off a few of his officers.
Wow. Father Of The Year Candidate- and still found time to score some shite and have a shootout & standoff despite his busy schedule.
Statue worthy?

Murphy Paul doesn’t give a single frick about any of the poor officers on the street. He’s only there to kiss criminal arse for Broome. I don’t know why anybody works for BRPD.
On another note, the family already has a lawyer? Sounds like they’re about to start pumping out some bullshite.
