Obviously this incident was bad. I was talking about your post in general.

I know they're used by law enforcement (probably not often), so not sure if he even had one on him. And the logistics have to work out of course.
Regardless I probably would not have pulled that move at 109 mph. nothing good was going to happen

How'd they go through so many green lights?

In Lafayette I accelerate from a light and the next one 300 yards down turns red.

That shite is ridiculous...they put a lot of innocent people’s life in danger.

That said, both drivers were impressive. The criminal knew just what to do to keep the police officer from pulling that maneuver. That police car was also impressive....gps clocked him at 115 mph for a little while.

Should have called off the pursuit. You have his license plate. You'll track him down soon enough. Pit maneuvers are dangerous as it is. At 109 mph, that's just reckless. According to the description, the truck driver had blown through several lights and was driving recklessly. I guess an officer could deem that a public safety risk and justify such a high risk?

I am mixed on high speed chases.
On one hand, being able to elude police with high speed shouldn't give you a free pass on being apprehended at the appropriate time.
On the other hand, innocent lives, including the officers, are put at risk. There were a couple of cars in that video that barely got out of the way. Also ran about 3 red lights.

Yeah, so let’s further endanger the public by adding more speeding vehicles to the equation, and on top of that, let’s pull a pit maneuver at triple-digit speeds

You're missing the point. What that officer did put everyone around him at risk. When you're moving at those speeds, you back off the pursuit to avoid harming others. I've had cops tell me themselves that they don't really do pursuits for that reason. They're just more dangerous than what they're worth. The only time they really go through with a pursuit is if they believe that the suspect is about to cause imminent harm to those around him.

there was also another in Arkansas pit maneuver used by officers in November 2020 on a vehicle at 126mph. Killed the driver. They received a call as a armed robbery, but after the crash it was relayed to them that the victims were only accused of shoplifting at Dollar General.
