The cop didn’t stop the passenger from trying to bring the dog to the vet to only find out they were closed. Was she then supposed to let the lady go on another high speed adventure in hopes the next clinic would be open?
Maybe offer to take the dog?

This whole thing gives me . . . paws.

At least the cop didn't shoot the dog.

My dogs I have had over the years are better company than most people on this planet currently so I wouldnt have stopped til I got them to the vet.
Doesnt mean I would go 100 mph or drive like an idiot, but if it was a highway or other type of open road, damn right I would be speeding to get there.
Actually had this happen when my parents were out of town when I was in High School.
GSP pulls me over, I tell them why I was speeding, they look in the back and then escort me to the Vet which was only a few more miles away.
Cop even helped me carry her in.

Dumbass should have stopped and explained at the first sound of the siren.

Yeah running the one red light in the boons at 15 mph endangered lives
-Running a red light
-Going 70+ in a 35, and again in a 45
-Running a vehicle off the road while passing a vehicle on the left attempting to make a left turn while going 30+ over the speed limit
This wasn't rolling through a red light. I grew up off a highway not far from where the city limits end and the limit jumps from 40 to 55. I was mowing the yard when someone decided to go ahead and do 60+ because they could see the 55 and decided to pass the slower vehicle in front of them. That slower vehicle had a light out and was turning into our across the street neighbors house. Our neighbors' daughter and young grandchild were in the car and both died when they were t-boned.
I am an animal lover and work with shelters here in Acadiana on the weekends as well as using some of my PTO to aid when needed throughout the year. I genuinely care about animals and their well-being. There is however no instance where the life of an animal outweighs that of a human.
I have been in this woman's shoes with my own animal as well as with numerous rescues. I can empathize with her, but I cannot in anyway condone her actions. The cop goes too far, completely agree, but that doesn't mean this woman doesn't deserve the arrest and any and all legal ramifications that will be levied.

Pull over, quickly tell the cop the situation and all is probably ok.
Or...
Cop sits in car for a minute once you are pulled over as they like to do. You get out to explain situation to cop and she pulls her gun and orders you to the ground.
Cops are not your friends. The right thing to do here is to call 911 and explain you have a medical emergency and a cop is following you. They will relay the info but you stay on the line until you get confirmation they have contacted the cop.

frick you dude, I would murder you and your family to save my dog. (Obviously just kidding ) but any decent cop helps the lady take to dog to vet and then writes a ticket latter. This mfer would probably do the exact same shite for guy rushing his pregnant wife to hospital or someone rushing a man with heart attack to hospital. Barney Fife syndrome. He is about to be crucified online and in public and will be most hated mfer on that police force ever. He is know a dog killer, lowest mfer on the planet.

The life of a dog is not more important than the life of a human.
Completely fricking wrong. Depends on the person

About 85% of this board thinks a dogs life is worth about as much as a pile of dirt, that’s been proven in past dog threads.
The lady should have pulled over to explain to the cop the situation. I think the cop would have reacted the same though judging how she didn’t give a shite about the dog anyway.
Cant say what I’d do in that situation. My dog is the same as family to me. Hell my dog is better than some family members. Tough situation all around. Help the dog then take care of the driver.

In this DEI era, you just have to assume certain people are unqualified and wrong.
It sucks for those hired and on the job, even if they are qualified, but their racist appointing authorities and Democrats are the ones to blame for this.
Democrats hire police in Hope Arkansas? The city and county was 4-1 GOP supporters in 2024. The mayor is not a democrat and 4 of 6 commissioners are not and the other 2 may or may not be LOL...couldn't find anything about them in the 30 seconds it took to find out that in all likliehood whoever hired these cops is most likely about as far from being a democrat as one can get....

Its a damn shame they did not shoot her. We ain't ever going to get the message across that one has to comply or die if we keep pussyfooting around with criminals.
Woman was an idiot for endangering people's lives over a dog but when the cop had her pulled over why couldn't she escort her to a vet and then arrest her? Woman needed arresting for certain, you can't endanger people over a dog, but surely there is some leeway in the timing of said arrest, no????

If your dog is potentially dying on the way to the vet, you’re going to follow all the rules of the road trying to get there in time? I didn’t think so.
I can understand speeding to a certain degree but not running lights (unless absolutely no one is around), driving erratically and running other cars off the road.
And what would the take here be if a car she endangered crashed and someone died or was seriously injured?
Posted on 7/31/25 at 9:31 am to This GUN for HIRE
Yeah I usually take a pretty hard line against the police but this one is all that womans fault. The dog categorically didn't die because the woman was handcuffed, another woman carried the dog into the vets office. The red light was bad enough but the woman almost had a head on collision and was driving, according to the cops camera, about 30 MPH over the speed limit in a pretty congested area. She has to be arrested LOL....lucky she did not kill someone.

I’m not even one of those dog-loving animal fanatics, but even I can still see that this is an incredibly shitty, a-hole thing to say about someone who’s dog is dying in the car.
You pull over immediately and maybe the officer is sympathetic and maybe gives you an escort to the vet.
You don't just flip your blinkers on and expect to be treated like an ambulance when you are headed to the wrong place.

My toddler had a severe reaction to fire ants and I had to drive 10 miles to meet an ambulance at a police station. Even with my son nodding off and acting drunk from anaphylaxis I didn't drive like a lunatic and run people off the road. I had enough sense to know causing a head on accident wasn't going to help the situation.
I drove fast, but not reckless. I had to wait several times to safely pass vehicles. A sick dog or even a person is no reason to run other cars off the road. This woman legit could have killed someone.
That said...what she did isn't the same as a criminal scum bag running from the cops. She was an irrational and distraught woman....they are known for making things worse. Hell she didn't even wind up at the right vet office. Had the cop not stopped her she would have continued her dangerous behavior frantically trying to find another vet.
