Are you supposed to tip when you do grocery pick up?

I have been doing online groceries for a month and I’m not sure what protocol is.
I pick up groceries 1-2 times per week.

I tip cash when they deliver. Apparently they get screwed on the online tipping portion.
Sidenote: There was a point when a person could prepay a tip, say $50, and the the shopper would see the amount and move the order to the front of the line. Then once the delivery was made the person could then change the tip or remove it all together. What kind of arse whipping would that person be inline for?

I don't think they are allowed to accept tips at Walmart pickup. I tried the first time I did it and they wouldn't take it.
I'm not sure about other places. And yes, I'm a little bit trashy.

Can you afford to tip a few bucks?

I go to the store (Albertsons) and pick up.
The guy/girl always has a shirt on that says online. I think the only thing they do is shop for online people.

I would probably be a little inclined to leave a tip. $5 or less depending on the order.

I am pretty sure that is their job. They are hired to bring you your groceries and at walmart at least, they don't accept tips.

Same experience here have not tried since.

Did you tip that consistently helpful grocery store employee who bagged up and packed in your groceries so good back when you used to make them for yourself?
If you have to ask...

I always push my buggy to the end and bagged my own groceries.
Somewhere in the last 15 years the store baggers became optional. Totally not fair to the checkers.
So I put my groceries on the slide in order to be easily bagged (cold first, frozen, then boxes, then cans, then cleaning stuff, etc.)
Then would go to the end and bag them up. Or send one of the kids. (Who have also been schooled on proper order on the slide and bagging)
My only reservation about tipping is that I have no need for cash except this. So I would need to make a trip to the bank before. Which I have no problem with- just wanted to check with others to see if it’s necessary.

At WalMart you aren’t supposed to
The survey you get with your emailed receipt is supposed to give them a bonus if you get their name & leave a good review
If it’s raining or really cold I will leave 5.00 in the trunk & tell them to grab it

Typically, employees don't get tipped but contractors do. Walmart uses in house employees to pick the orders and run them out for pick up. They use a few different delivery or courier services, depending on the area, that have contractors for deliveries.
Walmart policy is to not allow tips for any employees.

Why are we tipping people that are making 11.00 an hour? That's what Walmart starts off at now.
Tipping is for people that wait tables and make 2.15 an hour.
Might as well go in and tip the people stocking shelves. They work way harder.

People that wait tables make at least minimum wage - if they do not make enough tips so their salary is at least minimum wage - the employer pays the difference
On another note John Goodman and Harry Connick used to give my brother nice tips when he bagged their groceries and loaded them into the car for them - but that was a long time ago

I didn’t know John and Harry bought groceries together. What are you implying?
