.....
Not here you can't. They live above and below, in the walls and in the trees. They build webs across sidewalks and can be anywhere in the house. We've found spiders in the toilets. Our garage has thousands.
Definitely spiders. Snakes aren't so bad. We even get rattlesnakes in our yard every once and awhile and we're not concerned.

Snakes are potentially far more dangerous than spiders. I don't really have much of an irrational fear of either, although I am weary of some snakes.
I would shite myself, scream like a girl, and run if I saw this bad boy. Luckily they only live in Africa.

Hate spiders way more than snakes. A lot smaller and can be very lethal

As long as they don't move too fast snakes don't bother me a great deal.
Those ones that are lightning fast, like that black mamba in that pic, frick those things. I would literally shite myself if I saw one of those.

Is it just me or are people from Louisiana way more afraid of snakes than people from other states. Obviously a very unscientific observation but I've never seen so many grown men get so uncomfortable at a simple picture of a snake than I have on this board.

I think Cobras are the scariest looking snakes.
I also hope we never have a python infestation like Florida. They could easily live in Louisiana. I know someones python escaped a house in Eunice and I don't think anyone has found it yet. I believe it was over 15 feet long too.

Neither snakes nor spiders bother me. Went snake hunting today, in fact, but came up empty (did pick a bag of blackberries though). I have a pet pygmy rattler and have caught venomous snakes bare handed. But I will not get near a roach. Even killing a roach with a broom freaks me out - the length of a broom handle is far too close for me to get to a roach. Usually call the wife in to take care of business.

Obviously a very broad generalization using a very small sample size of "Louisianans," but I think the reason is that a lot of us from that particular state have lived a few horror stories with snakes, usually in our young lives...... Such as god damn cobra Kang snakes falling in our boats or cannoes from tree branches. Swimming between our legs while swimming in a creek or being bitten on the hand while gardening or something. Irrational fears are sometimes very real fears in our great state, if you go outdoors enough.
