Pay your way, treat people fairly, but above all else, go to the concert and take the trips. I am happier now than I have ever been. Childhood was a little screwy, young adulthood wasn't productive until I was 25. 15 years later and I am content.

This is a tough question. I guess in some ways I miss the carelessness of my younger years but I enjoy my freedom as an adult as well.
What I've done is try to limit my responsibilities. All I really need to worry about is maintaining my career, my house, my car, and taking care of my dog. I have fun hobbies I pour my time into and as an adult I have the resources to do so.
I've been told to "grow up" because of my lifestyle and not doing the typical 'get married and have kids' thing.

Because the happiness you experience when care free and zero responsibilities is only possible because someone is shouldering the burdens of life for you.

Truth in this. I had a great childhood but I have a boat, hunting lease, nice truck, nice neighborhood and a job with reasonable job security.
My parents did really well for themselves after we all left the house and I am better off than my parents were at this stage of life.
No chance I go back.

Happiest I have ever been. COVID sucks, but fortune has turned in my favor lately. My childhood sucked for the most part.
