We need to separate Federal, State, and Local governments during this conversation.

Federal government knows where you are at all times and what porn you prefer most likely. They have our cellphones and internet history.

I believe contact tracing is a local thing, right? Destroya probably can't count to 30, much less use data like this against anyone. Not that there's anything to use against people besides where they ate dinner.

If your fear is "this is the first step to the Federal government tracking our movements!" then I hate to tell you buddy, but they already do. And writing your name and phone number down at Denny's when you treat your old lady to a fancy meal isn't something they give a frick about.

you're missing the WHOLE point....

In order for the local, state or Federal government, to gather this info, it's first being collected by bar backs, bouncers, hostesses, dishwashers, valets.....people that you dont want to know who and where you are.

Also, you gonna give those same people at public places like restaurants, McDonalds, zoos, museums, etc, the names, ages and addresses of your minor children??

But you’ll pay with a CC with no concern and give them access to your full name which can access all those other things you are scared they might obtain

Every positive COVID-19 case is mandated to be reported to the CDC and state and local public health agencies.

And now that info can be given to hundreds and hundreds of low wage high school kids? Reassuring as frick.

I am way to small a fish for the federal government to give a frick about me and my gay interracial midget cum swapping compilations.

But let’s say I want to run for some local spot one day. Or if I raise issue against a local/state politician. What’s to stop them from using my data to harass the places I frequent? I mean, i know it’s really hard to imagine governmental agencies abusing rights, but it is certainly possible.

You don’t have a problem with it. Some people do. It’s a slippery slope no doubt though.

I wonder what wonderful regulations and policies the next international event will wreak.

Which would be against the law for that info to be shared with anyone outside of that management.

My credit card doesnt give my kids info or my whereabouts.

Last time I checked AMEX has privacy laws that protect me

I pay with a credit card every time I eat, and the dishwasher has never stolen my identity. Guess I’m just lucky

I will.

Your cellphone has people tracking you all the time anyway and in MUCH more detail. I don't care if my city government knows I went to my neighborhood dive bar 3 times a week

Plus, I would like to know if someone had COVID19 while I was there. I'm going into the office a lot and there are older people here, including our c-suite folks who I had reports to. I'd like to not be the guy that gives it to them.

I’ll social distant, wear masks indoors, and wash my hands frequently, but frick that nanny state bullshite.

That’s what I don’t understand
JBE said your info would be kept private but I’d think they would need to confirm your name when they called

It is kept private. Those working for public health agencies aren't gonna do anything with your information besides their job. They could lose their job and go to jail otherwise.

Don't ever get tested for any communicable disease ever again in your life if you don't want any of your information sent to local, state, and federal agencies. Just saying.

So let me get this straight. Your issue is giving the restaurant/bar employees your name and phone number for fear they will do something nefarious with that information?

Do you not think if their goal was to do that, they couldn't just google you when you pay with a credit card?

You're also not telling a bartender at Place A that you also went to Place B so that part of your comment doesn't really make sense to me either.

The entire point of this is so when people test positive, the city can call that establishment and get a list of names and phone numbers of people who were there at the same time. That's it. I am sure they won't force anyone to give juvenile information either. That would be odd.

ETA:

Again, I don't give AF if people refuse to do this. It doesn't bother me a bit. I just wouldn't mind giving my name and phone number.

I do that when I get takeout orders and make reservations anyway.
