If so when did you reach contentment and what is the driving factor behind it (other than coke and ‘baitin)? Money, family, career, recent handjob?

The red/blue pill thread made me realize how content I am.

-stomach full

-clothes on my back
-loving family
-faith in God

Yes and no. My contentment is my family and they are my safety net. I still push for more professionally and probably won't stop for a while.

I have a cool wife and a quiet dog and a golf cart? Does that count

I'm good. Middle age taught me that many of the things I wanted when I was younger are not that important.

yeah, but I don't think it's some place you arrive at, I feel like it's a choice you have to make over and over again

When I'm adhering to my core values and habits strictly, then I'm always content

anytime I feel discontented, I can usually tie it directly back to something/someone I'm neglecting - like I'm out of balance

If I stop and think about all I have: yes. I have all a man could ask for and then some.

On a day-to-day basis: no.

Working on mindfulness and being grateful.

Yes. Was always on a good trajectory and I feel I hit the point of content at 39. Money was great, job was great, family great. Felt blessed. And I don't take a single day for granted. I'll always maintain a hunger for being better at everything I do so that won't go away. But the mental peace I have achieved is what I hope remains.

Absolutely!

The absolute KEY to happiness is Gratitude

Second place would HAVE to be just not giving a FRICK what others think or say

I was content until you posted this question and got me to think about it.

Damn you jamboy!!!

Upon further reflection, I’m good, I’m good, I’m good.

I generally agree but gratitude is often unrequited and can lose it's value. I've adjusted to believing that the key to happiness is service. It often comes packaged with gratitude but even when it doesn't, it still works for the giver.

Content? Yes.

Truly happy? I really don’t think that’s possible for me.
