Are you saying there can only be one motivation for stating so publicly? You sound a little dense.
I'm saying that the vast majority of people post about it because they want attention to themselves, not whatever cause they are boycotting.

I'm not watching any NFL football outside of Saints games. However, I started that trend a couple years ago because the product just isn't that entertaining to me. So no, I'm not boycotting shite.
Yeah, that's why my "boycott" has been easy. The only reason I have watched is ffb but I don't really care anymore. NFL is pretty boring.
My dad brought up a good point a few weeks ago that he thinks there are too many teams, and have thinned out the talent to the point that a few injuries ruin a season.

follow up... is anyone here boycotting something, and actually thinking that you are going to change
Are the people kneeling going to change a thing?

What do you think a boycott is friend?

Thy changed a lot of people's Sunday viewing choices.

A boycott is actively choosing to not consume a product that you otherwise would
Ignoring the 30 seconds of pregame and then continuing to watch is not the same as a boycott

I have boycotted BP for a long time since they dicked around getting that oil spill fixed. Haven't bought from them in years
I "boycott" BP because they are never cheaper than the guys next door with the same or better quality gas.

I've been weenin the NFL for sometime, now it's over for me. Boycotted cigs since 1996. What's the difference between boycotting and resolutions? Why don't they call it New Years boycotting. What's girlcotting?
Posted on 9/28/17 at 8:52 am to OceanMan
nope...not at all. No one on either side is doing anything that's gonna change anything. It's all dumb!

Yeah. That is the reason why everyone feels the need to tell everyone that they are boycotting the NFL. For awareness. It's definitely not for attention.
This is the conservatives' version of virtue signalling. Liberals love letting everyone know how open and accepting they are, conservatives love letting everyone know how patriotic they are.
Come to think of it, like 90% of the discussion about this falls into those two categories. I wish everyone would shut up so I could watch football in peace.

I would hardly say ignoring just that part is going to make it go away.
I know you are steadfast in your boycott argument, I remember you saying the same before this NFL nonsense. I don't want to argue with you because at least your principle is solid . But if one doesn't like what's going on on the field before the game, the only real recourse you have is to not watch the NFL. I don't think it is stupid at all, regardless of it changes anything.
Further, I would say that these events could change the NFL product from one you would otherwise consume, into something you won't.

I don't shop at Target. I will deliberately inconvenience myself to find a Publix or Kroger.

Entire teams including owners (who are likely heavily subsidized by public dollars despite being billionaires) doing it made it much more about the overall system not just a few players.
