This is about taking down a monument erected in honor of white supremacists. This is not about "Wasting Money".

Lol. Yeah, that's why everyone here is all worked up.
What if they raise private funds to remove the statues? Then, would everyone be okay with their removal?

Is the removal of these monuments happening for free?

Right after a vote open to the public took place. Until then, this is all a bunch of bullshite.

When you say the public, do you mean the general public, or only Orleans Parish/Nola city residents?
And you never said of you would be in favor of removal using private funds after a vote.

You lose the "it's about heritage" argument so you pivot to the "wasting money" argument. Anything to keep the old racist memorabilia around huh?

I haven't lost any argument. Not sure who you're confusing me with. Why are you dodging my question?

You don't think it's fricked up that the mayor decided to start pulling down public monuments in the middle of the night using city employees (firefighters) and without letting the citizens of NOLA vote on whether or not to remove them?
I'd say that's a pretty valid argument for some people... personally I just want them left up bc I'm a racist.

So you're willing to accept that criteria. Do you really think a majority of residents in either Orleans parish or the city limits, would vote to keep the statues? If so, you're out of your mind. Most of the anger is coming from people outside of New Orleans.
But why is that? Because Nola is known worldwide as one of the best Southern cities. People come from all over the world to visit. And that city is no longer celebrating it's Confederate heritage, but is ashamed of it.

Honestly, yes.

It's a big issue getting national attention. That's not surprising.

It had an inscription celebrating white supremacy. They hid it for awhile. But even 20+ years ago, they knew that statue was atrocious.

That didn't answer the question.

You are a fool.
This is about scoring political points with race baiters and half-moon trying to secure a place in Hillary's failed administration.
Some old statues and monuments didn't bother or even come across the radar of a vast majority of the people, and those it did were oversensitive any way.
When people are being murdered daily for nothing, when the potholes on the streets can swallow cars, when corruption runs rife...You are really gonna bullshite me that some old pieces of stone and metal are top priorities?

To answer your question, of course it isn't free. The question you posed makes no mention of worth. There is inherent worth to removing a symbol of hate and racism. Unless you like, or are apathetic to, a monument that promotes an act of hatred and racial violence.
P.S. sorry for getting you mixed up with Fr33. At work and shifting between screens and shipping.

Is that "inherent worth" more valuable than fixing actual problems of today?
