Just ask Charles Roussel at the LSU Economics Department and he will say yes.

Without a doubt. And those people buying at this moment are buying at a point not even close to the bottom. I expect stocks to slip at least another 20% before all is said and done.

This recession will be ugly because the Fed can't do much to serve as a backstop, Congress can't agree on a damn thing, government deficit spending under this Congress and Trump is close to racking up $1T, the ridiculous idea to pass widespread business and personal tax cuts during an "up" economy will further handcuff federal response to a recession because they won't have the money needed to invest, and, of course, we have possibly the least qualified White House leadership in history who are wholly incapable of dealing with a widespread economic crisis.

And despite Rog's imbecilic comment about this being a result of Keynesian policy, I can assure you Keynes was rolling over in his grave when those tax cuts passed and government spending ballooned during a period of economic prosperity. Keynesian economics is personified by the simple saying, "save for a rainy day". We didn't and now we're fricked.

good point to buy stocks now actually since prices are cheaper. Hope the market stabilizes though and that the chaos surrounding Trump's administration calms down. The globe knows not what Trump will do to screw it up any further and what allies he will piss off unnecessarily next. We are losing our trust with the rest of the globe and that, I think, is affecting the markets. Trump needs to settle the tariff issues and assure our friends that we will have their back if they have ours.....I don't think his ego though will allow him to admit that he made a mistake. Not that he has anything to worry about......his family is making out like bandits on this Trump brandname strategy.

Tax cuts have nothing to do with a slowing economy. In fact they stimulated the economy. Now they didn't superheat the economy like some have said

Interest rates and pressure from global economy will slow our economy. You're welcome.

Why are you guys using the stock market as a proxy for economic growth?

Looking at economic data, there is no indication of a recession. Things MAY be slowing down a bit, but most indicators still indicate expansion. GDP in the 4th quarter is set to grow around 3%. That is not a recession.

Those blaming tax cuts for rising deficits are complete retards

Here is the graph of what is making up the increase in the deficit. Do you people really think tax cuts are the main issue?

The deficit began rising in 2016, BEFORE any tax reform.
