Anyone else noticing many people in Baton Rouge are wearing masks as a fashion statement more than a preventative?

quote:

As China’s latest fashion trend, it has shown up on the official Paris Fashion Week runway. It’s sold alongside Givenchy pumps, Chloé handbags, and Lanvin dresses in a high-end online boutique. It appears in stylish selfies on social media. It’s sometimes made with luxe materials such as satin and crystals, and fashionistas have been known to buy several in different colors and patterns to match their individual outfits.

those cloth masks have around 97% filtration rates which make them nearly worthless.

It's amazing how many people don't know how mask work. They way they're using them render them pointless

While very true, the bridging fibers allow do not allow proper filtration which compounds the ineffectiveness.

I know someone who bought a Burberry face mask. Not even kidding. It’s sad.

My mom made me one of out an old patterned pillowcase. Looks dumb as shite, but I wear it.

And trendy masks have been a fad in Eastern and SE Asia for years. Just like we have Foot Locker for shoes, they have Masks'r'us for fashionable masks.

What’s more worthless, the mask or the person wearing the mask?

I can’t wait for the crime sprees to begin while wearing masks, then they'll have to choose between Muh Virus and Masks are Racist.

I hate seeing these fashionable masks on people. The people wearing them are the “look at me” culture and it’s silly to me.
