Since when did Dallas start trying to collect Louisiana toll fines?

I had a buddy that drove for 5years with Louisiana tags and never got a bill.

Are you saying I now have some sort of moral/civic duty to do something further about this?

nope, didn't say that, you don't have to track them down and beg to pay, but if you receive an invoice for usage I believe it should be paid

not Dallas, TXDOT, your buddy(assume you meant he drove for 5 yrs. in TX,) stayed off the tollways or is feeding you a line

I said Dallas because they're are different tolls in Dallas versus other parts of the state.

Considering I rode with him across the metroplex on toll roads, I know he did.

On top of that, NTTA didn't always collect out of state fines. It was part of a initiative to seek fines in attempting to gain revenue.

kind of a different bird as far as gubment agencies go, they try to not be so heavy handed the way the gubment usually is, they'll give amnesty pretty easily, every once in a while they'll credit tolltag members for something like $25 to just say thanks for a good year, and they have real people, helpful and courteous, that actually answer the phone, and don't put you on hold forever, not that I have a lot of personal dealings with them, but other agencies should take note of their model

Hey, I'm not suggesting I won't pay it. I'm just not going to do anything to go out of my way to do so, when I read a sign that tells me to drive through and they will bill me.

What are you suggesting I should do here (that I'm not) to be an upstanding user of Florida tollways?

i drive in TX to see family regularly and have gotten the toll letters twice. this last trip i 100% used a toll road and no letter

i even signed up for TxTag and they had my plate in the system, but no outstanding tolls

there has been an issue with TxTag and Harris County Toll Road Authority for a few years,, the TxTags work in Harris County and the Harris County Tag are supposed by law to work elsewhere in Texas but the State system is sketchy,, so the often jst wave "violations" during high usage times since a large number of those violations turn out not to be..

I little information from my experience with this:

The toll camera systems are not perfect. There are times when, for whatever reason, the camera does not get a good photo or read of the plate number. They know this and it's just something they accept as they try to improve the technology. If you actually have the TxTag "tag" on your window, it acts as a transponder and they do not need to read the plate number. Even for that, though, sometimes you slip thru and it doesn't detect you, so you get a freebie. No system is perfect.

it can rack up, sold a car to a Messcan(sorry,) chick that wouldn't register the car in her name, can't imagine why, went on a vehicular crime spree in Dallas, parking tickets out the wazoo, a couple of hit and runs caught on camera, and a few hundred bucks in unpaid tolls before I was able to get that vehicle out of my name, can't believe how helpful NTTA and TxDoT was, I even had a lady with them down in Austin give me her personal number to call if the fix that she put in the system ran into any snags

the mail either. They said it takes a while to post, guess I'll call. Houston BTW if
anyone has input.
