I watched Greatfull Dead documentary “Long Strange Trip” and couldn’t help but think of Widespread Panic. Their groupies are so similar to the GD. Also I hear there are people who follow Dave Matthew’s Band. The GD had a cult form, the Spinners, who considered Jerry deity.

Any Spreadheads or Deadheads in the House?

These bands and their fans are awful. Remember the bootleg junkies? What normal person would collect 100 versions of the same show and think they had a huge music collection? Drugged out dorks.

do you realize WSP has already been playing over 30 years?

they are already semi-retired and only play a handful of dates each year.

your observation is about 20 years late.

But you have to admit, they're loyal. Like Scientologists. Or ISIS members.

There was a man for such people: Jim Jones. Too bad he didn't go on tour.

Have you ever had a friend that you didn't know was a Widespread fan? It's kind of like finding out that they go to a fundamentalist church, even though they seemed normal. Everything is still cool, but you kinda watch what you say around them from then on.

I worked with a relatively attractive nurse for about 10 years. I never really hung out with her, but there was always something slightly off-putting about her that never made me wish she was part my clique.

I recently found out she's a Phish fan.

It explains a lot.

Don't go blaming perfectly good drugs for someone's shitty taste in music.

Though deadheads have really good quality shite.

Almost nobody follows those bands on any comparable level to the dead. You'll get a few that'll travel to a few shows. But not uproot their life and follow the band year round. The closest there been since was Phish. And their music was even worse. At least the Dead played some decent blues tunes or bluegrass influenced songs.

Every Widespread fan I've ever known is a thieving piece of shite. I don't think that was true of the Deadheads.

I read this as spreadsheets 3 times before opening it and not seeing questions about spreadsheets.
