Pointing out the truth of the matter isn't promotion of uncivil discourse. We should be able to discuss this without silly finger pointing. We ARE getting those messages, intentionally, from the administration. These posts ARE scare propaganda. They ARE both targeting the same population of hispanic people in our communities. That's is simply what's happening.

Lots of dumb Ascension and Youngsville baseball moms like sharing FB stories of “suspicious people” (usually mexicans) staring at them and their kids in walmart and target.

A combination of stupid, paranoia, nothing better to do, and the need to be the center of attention is the root of all this bullshite.

Did you point out truths or opinions?

My statement about Nazi propaganda was based upon the fact that fear of child snatching was, in fact, used as a focal fear in the rise of the actual Nazi party in Germany. If you would like to see this for yourself, watch the 1931 film "M" by Fritz Lang. The film is great to watch but it played on fears of child snatching and ends with frightened people looking directly at the audience urging them to protect the children. While Lang was Jewish, Hitler didn't start targeting Jews until 1933. The fear of "others" and specifically using child snatching was a part of the propaganda of fear which got focused at different groups during that time.

Is this leading to the same end? Probably not. But we are doing some pretty monstrous things to our hispanic neighbors right now, and they are being justified by portraying them as criminals.

So what do you think about taking pictures of random hispanic people at Walmart and posting on the internet that they are child kidnappers?

or some reason I doubt all of this is true...

I just hope it doesn't happen to anyone you know.

There were 3 attempts on that one sunday within a 3 mile radius. only 1 was covered by local media and mostly online, no real coverage during news broadcasts.

If you search you'll find tons of these types of articles all over the country that never get real media coverage.

Probably because they were made up or inconsequential. The news thrives on this stuff
