Are Realtors Scumbags on Average?

Just curious if they're basically the type that'll push their grandma down the stairs for an extra buck? Certainly seems like it to me. I'm not selling a house just had some exposure to some on a personal level and they seem like car salesmen but with houses. Whatever it takes for max commission. What say the OT?

Not one individual. Several different realtors recently on a personal level. One which sold my sister on a home which was terribe.(acting as a friend) Another which employeed a friend and screwed them. A third which openly bragging about how they talked people in to a sale vs what was best for them. Car salesman like behavior to me.
I simply pose the question to the OT because it's the single best anonymous yay or nay forum I know of.

I became a realtor when I became a home builder. It's very lucrative. Now I don't pay a realtor to list my houses.

Selling houses and selling cars can both be honest professions. They're commission based so you only make money for being successful. What's more American than that? Sure, my realtor could make $6,000 selling me a house, but he could show me 20 houses for an hour each before I buy one. Not to mention all the time he wastes on people who don't. It's not a gig I would enjoy because I hate people but I can see the value.

frankly, anytime people make their living on comission, there are going to be some that do some pretty shitty things to make a buck...
however, my experience with realtors has been almost all positive....I once had my heart set on a house and was ready to buy for the asking price...my realtor saw some things in the house that convinced him that the house was not a good one to buy and actually convinced me not to buy it...I have nothing but respect for him after that and will call him when I decide to sell my current house...

I only ask because you posted about your mileage allowable your company gives you.
