I’ve driven an EV for over a year (including long distance work travel) with virtually zero headaches. People who feel the need to pontificate on other people’s car choices are the ones that are brainwashed.

So you honestly believe that there will come a day when you can't do your shite anymore because they made you get an EV?
I don't believe you. I think you just want to freak out.
OH MY frickING GOD, I NEED TO BURN GASOLINE!!!!!1!!!!11!!

1) it drives itself
2) best around town commuter there is
3) Never having to go to a gas station
4) if you have more than 1 car in your household, typically 1 of them being an EV works well
5) mad torque

Sure but it will take you years to recoup the increased cost of the vehicle in fuel savings

You want one awesome they are pretty cool for some things. They just don’t work for what I need them to do yet and there is no reason for the government to get involved.
None of that shite is serious. You will be able to tow your boat. You will be able to travel across the country. Yes, we will have more electrical generation - and powered from multiple fuel sources. African children are already dying for your phone batteries.
I don't want an EV, and I don't don't want an EV.
You people are just stupid about this shite, you just want to panic so bad.

California is supposed to ban sales of new ones by 2035
I have a feeling that won't sit well with the people that inhabit the state

I know the whole EV thing is bullshite in terms of carbon footprint but if you only commute locally it’s a good way to save some gas money and the Model S is a bad machine.

It's a big deal because several states have advised that they will adopt California's ban regulation on all sales of gas powered/ICE vehicles by 2035.
So, even if your worst case scenario there comes true, by 2035, most states will still allow the sale of ICE vehicles. If that's the case, most states will still allow the sale of gasoline. And there will still be millions of ICE cars on the road.
You don't even want to go to California. Do you think you're going to want to go to those other blue states that won't sell ICE cars?
I mean, why panic now?

Also, for reasons unknown to me, some fringe conservative types have lashed out at them similar to the hatred of Toyota/Honda/etc back in the 70's. They too think that a world that somehow embraces electric energy is a pipe dream that bizarrely threatens some Rush Limbaugh utopia.
I just assume the anti-ev crowd hates america and wants it to fail. For the first time in 50 years american manufacturers have a head start of the newest automotive paradigm shift. For some reason a lot of supposed americans want to see us fail in this sphere and cede the advantage to Europe, china and japan.

Most people who embrace electric cars have no idea how electricity is created and what fuels the process. Just ask them.
I'd imagine most people that own an electric car are more educated just by virtue of those cars being more expensive
There aren't a lot of dumb people out there that can afford a dual motor Tesla
I'd say if anything owners (not proponents) of EVs are likely to be more educated about power generation than the general population

Thats depends on what you compare it against. People love to compare a model 3 to a Camry, but they aren't in the sam category. Compare it to a 3 series or something in that range. And thats still being generous considering one has adaptive cruise control while the other has FSD, summon, etc.

Yes, of course. Is this just now dawning on you? Did you hear the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor?

I believe I remember reading that “break even or better” with most modern EVs is between 5-10 years vs comparable ICE cars.
But even if it’s not, is it really a big deal? You could do this same analysis taking the average person’s ICE car and find a lower-cost alternative. Most people don’t buy new cars this way regardless of what they buy.
For me, I just like the car. It works for me and how I live, none of the EV downsides have been applicable to me and I like a lot of the features beyond it being an EV. I know it definitely wouldn’t work for everyone (which is why the “EV push” is dumb) but I do believe more people should consider it.

I could care less what people drive, but some of the reasons people list against the EV baffle me. Yes, our infrastructure as is could not support every American driving one, but I'm guessing when the gasoline car was first introduced that gas stations were not plentiful.
The infrastructure will come, and improvements to the battery life, distance, etc will come. To think that technology will not improve is just digging into an opinion and being stubborn.

this is an underrated line of thinking. my boss got one for work travel and realized it really sucks for on the road, even with the extended battery. he's resigned himself to me driving us around with my company vehicle.
around town, he never has to worry about gassing up again and it costs him a few dollars a day to recharge.

Now if we all get pushed to that bullshite, then our infrastructure will crumble. Can you imagine how many transformers will blow when everyone gets home at 5-530 and plugs up their car?
This is how you monger fear.
One day the government will turn off all the gas pumps and from that night on we will be sitting in the dark, listening to transformers blow all night. It won't take long before we all starve to death.

sell me on why this makes sense.
There is no need to sell you. It is simply an option available in the marketplace. IF someone desires this option and is willing to pay, it does not mean you are enjoined from exercising your option to buy a gas powered vehicle at whatever price it may be.
People make financial choices based on what makes sense to them and one person's choice has nothing to do with you.
I continue to be amazed at how people are so concerned with how others spend their money
